Here are a few tracks from my set at @nextdoorrecords_ with @zesty.djs the other week :) was my first time playing vinyl in a club, really felt so different (in a good way!) 🌀

DJ Senze - No Worries (2001)*

Inland Knights - Just a Little (2000)

Random Method - Phunction (2001)

*sometimes context gets a bit lost in dance music, worth saying this track samples Carl Bean - I Was Born This Way, an important gay anthem from 1977, here’s the writeup from the Youtube video:

“The writers, Chris Spierer and Bunny Jones wanted to write a Gay anthem and make the plight on Gay issues known and bring it to the forefront.

The song’s lyrics is about a man who proclaims that he’s gay and that he was “born this way”. It was one of the first gay disco songs written specifically for the Gay community, before the Village People wave.” - it’s also a great tune

(also shoutout @hannahschullerr for recording one of the few videos 😋)

ps I got lucky and got all these for <£5 a few years ago, it’s crazy how much £ this stuff is going up by ! taken in Next Door Records Two by @malwen__

3 tracks from myself along with an amazing remix from @tywi.dj 🌀

Thank you to @phax_mastering & @r.a.n.d.muzik & @inchbyinchdistribution for sorting all the mastering, pressing & distribution and to @_louisbartlett_ for the artwork. It was an amazing feeling holding my first record!

Digi & vinyl available to buy on my Bandcamp and to stream on all the usual sites. If you’re in 🇩🇪 or elsewhere in EU, vinyl is available from @inchbyinch.recordstore and @inchbyinchdistribution. Links in bio 🔗

Hope you enjoy and I’m pleased to say there are a few more EPs that’ll be out soon 🌳

Thanks for all the support so far, it means a lot 🧡

…
On a separate note - given I’m also pretty obsessed with politics & current affairs, I can’t not acknowledge the dire situation we’re in. If you’re also worried about the madness going on in the 🇬🇧 and 🌍, I implore you to just keep engaging and talking about it all with as many people as you can (while keeping your sanity of course). You never know what impact changing one person’s mind can make. ❤️ by @malwen__

New remix ⛓️

Huw (@malwen__) and I first met in college up in rural North Wales circa 2011 when we were both 15. Feels quite mad to be remixing a track for someone I first met as a teenager from an area where this kind of music was basically non-existent growing up. Very proud to be part of Huw’s first vinyl release, which also happens to mark the first remix of mine to make it onto wax. Full circle moment!

Deep, driving and dubby. Out soon! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 taken in Cymru by @malwen__

Some more ambient album recommendations to soothe the 2026 madness 🫠

Terekke - Improvisation Loops (2018) - everything of his is amazing

Jim O’Rourke - Steamroom 40 (2018) - incredibly prolific artist and incredibly proficient synthesist!

Ulla - Hope Sonata (2022) - lesser known release from Ulla and quite different from their other work

Shuttle358 - Chessa (2004) - one of many great albums on Taylor Deupree’s 12k label by @malwen__

Here are some tracks I played our @zesty.djs club night at @thefoxandfirkin the other week :)

@therealfennec - Grilled Romaine (2025) - so good ❤️

Modulator - His 808 Electro HQ (1997) - rare bit of electro on Plastic City (pretty underrated label, so many good tracks in its catalogue and across its various sublabels)

Ngin-O - Luxor (1995) - (alias of Oliver Barkovic - well worth a dig, lots of unique tracks!)

Demarkus Lewis - Hustler (2004) - (such a good house producer, also on the underrated side!) by @malwen__

@resident_advisor made a great feature about the best music from the last 25 years, been enjoying discovering the many things I missed!

In the spirit of sharing music, here are the albums from their top 100 that I like the most + a list of albums they missed (some of which are my absolute favourites!). I tried to keep it selective :) by @malwen__
