POSTS STORIES REELS

{•-—-•}»Reality keeps shifting? I| Mama Magnet is for sense-making through artist knowledge networks and curated art experiences. 🌴We embrace multiple mediums, and intersections of mediums, to stimulate curiosity and environments for asking questions. Collaborating with accomplished artists, we care about turning stories into interactive environments that 🪢bridge communities.

𝖆𝖈𝖗𝖔𝖘𝖘 𝖙𝖎𝖒𝖊 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖈𝖚𝖑𝖙𝖚𝖗𝖊𝖘 🔹Very lucky that we get to observe ancient records of cave paintings along the Silk Road, and translate them into a visual, illustrated by Firpal, centuries afterwards. 🎠✨

To our Singapore friends, posters are up for grabs. Run, don’t walk to @acm_sg this weekend! 😚😷
Crossing Cultures: Roads less travelled is a public programme on 16-18 October drawing on the stories of the exhibition collection ‘Sacred Caves: Dunhuang, Buddhism and the Silk Road’.

INDEPENDENT ARTIST ZINES! HANDMADE PRINTS! HOT CHAI!

Jugaad is more than a word. It’s a way of being and doing that South Asians grow up with: a low-cost, makeshift workaround, clever and frugal, born from Sanskrit and Punjabi roots. We put out an open call for printed work that answered to that spirit, and the responses genuinely surprised us. Making a final selection was tough.

Come l👀k, chit-chat, sip-sip, flip through, and bring home printed mARTerials themed on improvisation and the DIY spirit, in the Oostelijk Havengebied on 9 and 10 October. Books, zines, prints and small-format works start at €5.

𝘑𝘜𝘎𝘈𝘈𝘋: 𝘈𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 is initiated and co-curated by Mama Magnet and SAC Art Amsterdam.

Reserve your spot via the link in bio. 🕠✏️🛠️📘👜

Entrance is €3 to ensure we can cover the event’s base costs. However, we have a pending grant application! If this grant is approved, we will gladly refund the full ticket price. If not, your €3 will go directly toward funding the event setup. Thank you for supporting us early! by @mama.magnet

AYEE ⚠️ Presenting makers and collectives from 12 cities representing the fine art of winging it; honoring resourcefulness, adaptation and an everyday intelligence.

Expect independent artist zines, comics, postcards, prints, textile works and books at JUGAAD: Absolute Improvisation — a fair for printed matter. See you there?

[𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀…] Resisting the monocultures of tourism and reimagining the holiday as a productive force for regenerating environments and people.

At the start of this year, we were selected to work closely with Grandeza Studio, Foundación Casa Planas, and the researchers, designers and architects that Organismo 2026 gathered under a ‘Planetary Theatre of Tourism’ case study. Tourism reshapes entire ecologies, economies, resources and audiences. If it’s a space of fiction and desire, then it is also a stage where alternative imaginations can be rehearsed.🗯️🌅

Last week we shared our research and a prototype at TBA21-Academy in Madrid. More soon.

Full Spectrum Curatorship 2026 | Tulika Ahuja

We’re pleased to announce Tulika Ahuja as a participant in Full Spectrum Curatorship 2026!

Tulika, also known as Mama Magnet, is a Singaporean curator based in Amsterdam, collaborating across cultures and disciplines. Her practice investigates the entanglements of technology, nature, and desire, using curation to unlearn “normal” and encourage self-reflexivity in audiences. A current thread in her work considers the absurdity and performativity of contemporary conditioning.

In the program, she’ll deepen an eco-social urgency: how animals in captivity echo our fears and consumer cultures. Through questions like how we relate to animals—and how animals might see us—she will develop new ideas in dialogue with artists including Jojo Knowles, whose practice explores recreating relationships with animals we domesticated, and, in turn, de-domesticating ourselves.

Full Spectrum Curatorship returns for its fourth edition, bringing together emerging and aspiring curators based in the Netherlands to share, experiment, and reflect together. This year’s cohort spans a wide range of perspectives on contemporary curatorial practice—across media art, digital culture, artistic research, public space, games, community archiving, and contemporary art. by @mama.magnet

👀👀👀 Looking for a partner, collaborator or something in between in The Netherlands or Europe. How we work together and the relevance of what we create matters more than titles or branding. Please read the full post linked in @mama.magnet bio.

I started Mama Magnet in 2020 to create a diversity of art, ideas and perspectives through curation and artist facilitation. Since then, we’ve worked across cultural and commercial projects, developing original art experiences, supported by a multilateral and growing network of artists, designers and producers living in Asia and Europe. We’re now a two-person team based between Amsterdam and Singapore adaptively and independently moving between disciplines, methodologies, commissions and funding cycles. We’re looking for someone to grow with us. 👾

Conciousmess, 2026
Micro residency collaboration with @mama.magnet

Loneliness is a global epidemic, even in rooms full of people. For our micro-residency with @claudeai, organized by @aixdesign we wanted to use the technology for the good in helping humankind to connect

Together with Tulika (mamamagnet) and Claude, we built conciousmess - A game that turns "who's that person across the room" into an easy way to connect. Pick a symbol, get matched, answer a few playful questions together. Go treasure hunting and win new friends.

Tested live at @nxtmuseum Amsterdam. We'd love to bring this to festivals and events anywhere people are in a room but not quite talking yet. DM us if you want conciousmess at your event.

Special thanks @aixdesign @claudeai
Hosted in @nxtmuseum

Bidding farewell 💧 to this special installation commission at ACM Green that hosted families and friends playing and learning chess over its 9 month-run. ♟️👩‍🦳

Created with artists Osheen Siva, Vendy Methodos and the knowledge and trust of Asian Civilisations Museum Singapore - chess pieces take the shape of fictional characters rooted in Tamil, Dalit, and Javanese histories, inspired by how the game travelled through India, Persia and the Middle East. In its design process, we explored a challenge of communicating the long, complex origins of chess, and enticing players of all ages to step onto the board. Checkmates! 🫱🏾‍🫲🏿

“EVERYDAY RITUALS” brought together Khairullah Rahim, Rin Tachihara and Ryan Benjamin Lee in a gathering of moving image works to end the year with.

It was curated in a peer-to-peer format, with artists inviting other makers directly. This means space for connection and experimentation outside of institutional KPIs or surveilled structures. 🏆✨

Co-produced by our pals, Amok @runamokrun & and sister platform, Goreng @goinggoreng
