NH allows same day voter registration so make a plan to show up to the polls and VOTE NO ON QUESTION 2!!!

when I was asked if I could write a children's song about grief, I knew I didn't want to fall into the trap of toxic positivity. i think we often try to rush kids toward happiness and when I was growing up as a deeply feeling sensitive child, I hated when adults told me it was all going to be okay. maybe that would turn out to be true but it didn't help me now!

instead, i think it's important just to make space for the feelings and to honor grief in all of its complexity. we don't have to rush to fix or solve or say the right thing: we just have to allow what is to be.

turns out I think it's what most grownups need too 💖❤️‍🩹💖 by @mama_nous

if you've already participated in early voting or sent in your mail-in ballot, hurray for you! but I personally love participating in election day and going to the polls in person to cast my vote so that's where I'll be on Tuesday morning before work: NH allows same-day registration so don't let that be a barrier if you haven't registered yet!

fun fact about this mantra song; it was originally inspired by @msrachelforlittles as I witnessed how courageously she navigated awful backlash for sharing her righteous views on the rights of children all across the world.

I feel strongly that it's not my place to share specifics of the stories that folks so graciously tell me about how my songs impact them, but it means so much to hear about the ways that my music helps carry folks through hard moments 💖

this song is from my album "change is inevitable" which is my love letter to cycle breakers. it's out everywhere! by @mama_nous

Whoops made myself cry at 5pm outside of the pizza shop thinking about how we all deserve a little more tenderness 🥹 by @mama_nous

I promise I did not coach my 6 year old into asking that question at the end but I'm glad he did because I don't explain why I chose this name often enough!

I also sometimes get asked if I'll ever release songs in French: if a native speaker would ever be interested in helping me translate my songs then I would LOVE to, my skills just aren't advanced enough to honor the meanings in a rhyming format (and one of my favorite parts about songwriting is playing with the word sounds until they flow in the way that's most satisfying to my ear so I cannot stand translations that have no rhythm or syncopation!!!). by @mama_nous

recent notes to self.

this one's a line from one of my favorite songs on my next album 🥰

A twin pregnancy, HELLP syndrome at 34 weeks, an emergency C-section, 4 days in the ICU...How could I possibly be upset that my body has changed after carrying me through so much?

So I treat it like a friend cuz it'll always be my home 💖 by @mama_nous

you can do it!
I know you can!!!

my favorite feedback I've gotten about my best selling 1st book from @calisbooks is how these SEL songs become part of families' language when they're working through hard things. yes they're book for kids, but these songs are for you too if you need them 🥰 by @mama_nous

The photo I sent @calisbooks when I first got my hands on the final version of our newest book, "Say Goodbye" 🥰

My favorite song I wrote for the book! I just think the melody + message of this one is so lovely.

My other favorite song because it was such a fun challenge to explain this (very helpful!) technique in catchy song form! Have you ever tried using a hug button when your little one is nervous about being apart?

My very favorite detail in the book: @clara.spn.ilustraciones illustrated our whole family in the page for "I will always come back"! the boys were SO DELIGHTED by this 🥹

(This one is a slightly modified version of a song you'll be familiar with if you've listened to my first album, "sing your feelings!")

I can't wait to hear what you think of my new book! I'm so proud of it 🥰 by @mama_nous
