Wasn’t expecting to cry as I wrote this, on my parents 46th wedding anniversary. ❤️😭

The art of noticing is such a real thing. And I’m so thankful that I had the upbringing I did, surrounded by so much love, as I do believe it fostered this God-given gift of photography.

Through financial hardship when they received help from family.

Through moving away from family and being homesick.

Through job changes.

Through new schools & navigating the community.

Through cancer, radiation, chemo, surgeries, more surgeries, more chemo, and all the sick days….

Through acting as a single parent a lot of the time.

Through kids going through traumas.

Through kids making dumb choices.

Through having your character being questioned from the town.

Through fighting for what you believe in.

Through moves away from everything you know and love to be with your kids and grandkids.

Through health scares.

Through it all…..I see the fight, I see the love, and the commitment, and I’m proud to be theirs.

What an honor it is to know a story such as this, just as it is to know a story such as yours.

My hearts desire to capture these memories and milestones are for memory, and documentation because you don’t know what season is next. Right now is a part of your story and it’s worth remembering.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad. I love you dearly, and I’m thankful God gave you to us.

45 years of marriage…and still couldn’t sit closer to each-other, still serving, still dancing 💃, still apologizing, still giving grace upon grace, still praying, still challenging….

I thought I was bringing mom to her dream location on her visit…turns out her dream was right beside her the whole time.

POV: Don’t wait 17 years to ask your Mom to visit during a busy season, to an event you believe to be a core memory….for all the excuses I’ve made in the past of why I thought maybe she wouldn’t be “able”…I’m going to try to not let this trip make me regret all the years past, as it was a beautiful 48 hours. Although with the 30 hour delay in travel - I’m not sure she will say yes again 😅 But I’m so thankful 🙏🏼 I put my pride aside, and just simply invited her.

One of the only girly things I truly remember doing when I was little was playing with Felicity my American Girl Doll that my Grandma Vivian gave me. With my best friend at the time, Mal, and cousins….we spent hours playing with them, looking at the catalogues, biking to the Dutch village to get trading cards, traded cards, biking to the second hand store to see if anyone had brought in any cards…filling up our binders, making the friendship bracelets, reading the books….

Then once I had J - I dreamed of the day that maybe she would be interested in them as well, but was never sure as she’s been surprising me at every turn with her interests.

Fast forward to the last 6 months she’s been playing with Felicity, and put an American Girl Doll on her Christmas list. I offered up the opportunity to my Mom to join on a Christmas adventure - to treat my daughter to an experience, and weeks later was pleasantly surprised to hear a yes!

The time we had together was so sweet & was so intentional…

Despite my yucky cold - we powered through & made so many memories.

Life is so short. Don’t forget to put yourself out there..you never know when it will be a YES. 🙌🏼

They’re here ❤️ For only a short while…we get them once or twice a year and every time J is twice the size as before…long distance is so hard but I’m thankful my parents are here this week….also I can’t get away from weddings 😜 But how cute are they?
