Nick Land is one of the most influential thinkers of the modern age. The reclusive academic, hailed as the father of accelerationism, tends to keep a low profile, but his ideas about artificial intelligence, the occult, and the future of humanity are writ large and loud across every waking hour of our daily lives. Some people think he’s evil. Others, a saint. There are those in both camps who would agree that he’s a visionary. Last week, Land flew from his home in Shanghai to San Francisco, where a crowd of Silicon Valley scenesters—as well as Curtis Yarvin and Grimes—were waiting in a billionaire’s mansion to greet him like a hero. VICE writer Nick Dove (@manabovetown) was there to cast an eye over proceedings and turn down bumps of smuggled-in K: read his full report now at VICE.com, the link is in the bio. by @manabovetown
