Soft curves, natural textures and a strong connection to the outdoors shape this Los Angeles bathroom.

An arched vanity recess and twin rounded mirrors bring softness to the space, paired with warm timber cabinetry, stone detailing and brass fixtures. The freestanding tub becomes a feature in its own right, positioned beside full-height glazing to take in the surrounding greenery and natural light.

A calm, considered room where every finish works together. Exactly the kind of space we love!

A key component of this Los Angeles renovation are the curves and arches carried throughout the home, features that are unforgiving if the setting is off by even a few millimetres.

This bar brings both together: a tiled island bench with curved edges, and recessed arched shelving cut into the wall behind it- more than just a simple home bar.

The result is an eye catching focus that anchors the room.

Great architecture deserves construction that matches its ambition.

The finest builders protect design intent from the very first conversation. That means proactive communication, close coordination with the wider team, and a level of quality control that safeguards custom details and finishes through every stage of the build.

It also means asking the right questions from the outset: how the builder communicates, how design clarifications are handled, and whether they have genuine experience with architecturally detailed homes.

At Manchen Construction, we bring this calibre of care to every project we build alongside architects across Los Angeles.

The front facade sets the first impression for this Los Angeles Mediterranean renovation.

This build paired details that define the style and tie it into the terracotta roof tiles and beige render. Corrugated glass windows on either side of the timber front door make a statement and allow for soft light flow.

The arched stone facade continues the Mediterranean style and complements the retro-inspired terracotta toned porch tiling.

It’s these little details that make the difference between a renovation that looks the part, and one that’s actually designed and built for the property.

A study in contrast, colour and considered detail.

Within this architecturally designed offset ADU in Los Angeles, each bathroom takes on its own personality.

One pairs rich green vertical tiles with warm timber joinery and softly curved mirrors, while the other leans into a bolder palette with terrazzo surfaces, warm-toned walls and sculptural fixtures.

Different in expression, but connected through thoughtful material choices and a strong attention to detail.

A considered outdoor lounge designed for year-round living.

The fireplace has been finished with a combination of smooth plaster and textured tile, creating a refined focal point within the space.

Material contrast adds depth and warmth, while the integrated design gives the area a grounded, architectural feel suited to both quiet evenings and relaxed entertaining.

The build detail is where the design really comes to life.

From the texture and character of the stone-finished fireplace to the recessed arched shelving and custom joinery, every element has been carefully considered to add depth, warmth and interest to the space.

It’s the combination of materials, craftsmanship, and thoughtful finishing that turns a functional living area into something unique.

Design build or traditional architect-led?

Both approaches have their place. The right choice comes down to the project’s complexity, budget, timelines and how closely the design and construction teams need to collaborate.

For architecturally detailed homes, early builder involvement can help improve cost visibility, identify construction challenges sooner, and keep the project moving without losing sight of the original design intent.

The key is choosing a team that understands how to balance design ambition with build ability from the outset. by @manchenconstruction

A closer look at the bathroom within our Old Mill Historical project.

A considered composition of materials, texture and tone creates a space that feels refined without feeling overstated. Every finish has been selected and executed with intention, allowing the details and craftsmanship to take the focus.

A quiet, elevated approach to a space designed for everyday use.

An outdoor space designed with the same level of consideration as an interior.

The custom kitchen brings together a poured concrete bar top and tiled benches, creating a refined balance of texture, durability and function.

A grounded material palette gives the area a strong architectural presence, while creating a natural place for cooking, gathering and entertaining.

A considered update to the existing fireplace helped reshape the feel of this renovated interior.

The original tiled and red brick facade was removed and replaced with a refined concrete finish. A lower-set mantle created cleaner proportions, reduced visual weight, and allowed the surrounding space to feel lighter and more open.

A restrained intervention, guided by material, scale and balance. by @manchenconstruction

A window designed as part of the architecture, not simply added to it.

The oblong oval form echoes the curves carried throughout the home, creating a softer transition between structure, light and view, and centring itself as a focal point of the structure.

Seen from multiple angles, it becomes both a functional opening and a distinct architectural detail that reinforces the design language of the build.
