Manchester Cider Club meets @balancetaproom in Manchester on the second Wednesday of each month. Tickets c/o @thecatintheglass
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Next month, Manchester Cider Club is delighted to welcome @seidir_tydecho , one of Wales’ most distinctive modern cider producers. Based in the mountains of South-East Gwynedd in the Dyfi Valley, Seidir Tydecho is the project of cidermaker Sam Robinson, making expressive Welsh ciders that draw deeply on the landscape, fruit and traditions of the region.

Sam takes a wonderfully individual approach to cidermaking, working with Welsh-grown apples and embracing natural fermentation, with some of the range receiving a particularly Welsh twist through the use of local honey to prime the bottles. The result is a collection of ciders that can be beautifully dry and tannic, bright and acidic, or rich and honeyed — always with a strong sense of place.

For this special evening, we’ll be exploring a selection of Seidir Tydecho’s ciders and hearing more about Sam’s approach to making fine cider in the Welsh mountains. Expect Welsh apples, local honey, unusual varieties, natural fermentation and plenty of character — alongside a few stories and folklore from a producer who has already been turning heads on the UK cider scene. This is a fantastic opportunity to discover one of Wales’ most exciting independent cider makers.

This month, Manchester Cider Club is delighted to welcome Matt Smith of @totemicciderandperry , a brand-new producer and one to watch in the world of modern British cider and perry. Matt’s passion is for seeking out rare, unusual and often overlooked fruit varieties, with a particular focus on perry pears and the incredible diversity they can bring to the glass. His work has already caught the attention of the cider world, having recently won the TCCPA Jean Nowel Bursary for Aspiring Cidermakers at CraftCon 2026.

For this special evening, Matt will be showcasing five perries and one cider, including at least a couple of genuine rarities that most of us are unlikely to have ever tasted before. His Medium Perry has also recently taken 1st Prize at the @yewtreepeterstow Trials, giving us an early taste of what this exciting new producer is capable of.

Totemic isn’t quite ready for sale yet, but hopefully that won’t be too far away. In the meantime, this is a pretty special opportunity to taste Matt’s work at the very beginning of the journey, discover some seriously obscure varieties, and get a first glimpse of what Totemic Cider & Perry will have to offer. Don’t miss it!

This month, Manchester Cider Club is delighted to welcome Seb’s Cider, a small-scale Herefordshire producer whose ciders have quietly built a reputation among those in the know for their purity, character, and deep connection to traditional orchard fruit. Founded by Seb Hughes, the cidery is rooted in a simple philosophy: source exceptional apples, intervene as little as possible, and let each variety tell its own story.

Working with carefully selected fruit from some of Herefordshire’s finest orchards, Seb produces a range of single-varietal and blended ciders that showcase the remarkable diversity of traditional cider apples. From bright, expressive vintage bottlings to beautifully balanced oak-aged releases, every cider reflects a thoughtful approach to both orchard and cellar.

For this special evening, we’ll be exploring a selection of Seb’s finest ciders, including a Stoke Red in rum cask which has literally just been bottled.

Next month, Manchester Cider Club is excited to welcome @threewellscider , a brand new cider project headed up by acclaimed cider writer and judge @adamhwells alongside his wife Caroline and cousin Justin. Though the cidery itself is in its first chapter, the people behind it are anything but newcomers — Adam is one of the UK’s leading voices in cider and perry, founder of @cider_review , co-host of the @cidervoice podcast, and recipient of @campaignforrealale prestigious Pomona Award for his contribution to cider culture.

Born from a shared obsession with orchards, fermentation, and the realities of making cider the hard way, Three Wells is rooted in low-intervention cidermaking and thoughtful fruit selection, with a focus on expressing vintage and place as honestly as possible. For this special evening, we’ll be tasting through some of the very first releases from the project — a rare opportunity to experience the beginnings of an exciting new producer guided by some of the sharpest palates in modern cider.

For our May meet, Manchester Cider Club is delighted to welcome @butford_cider , the award-winning Herefordshire cider makers rooted in over two decades of organic farming and traditional craft. Family-run at Butford Farm, they grow and press their own fruit, working entirely on-site from orchard to bottle, with a philosophy grounded in minimal intervention — wild fermentation, no added sulphites, and a deep respect for nature and heritage varieties.

For this special evening, expect a line-up that showcases the full breadth of their craft, from beautifully structured single-varietal ciders to sparkling, bottle-conditioned expressions and elegant perries. With fruit drawn from their own organic orchards and every stage handled by hand, these are ciders of purity, patience, and place.
