Michigan Vacation Part 3

Mackinaw Island! This one was on Gaga’s bucket list so we wanted to go there especially for her but we all loved it! No cars allowed on the island so we did a horse drawn carriage tour around the island and got to see some of the most famous sights.

For our last couple days in Michigan we drive through the charming towns of Petoskey, Charlevoix (they have the coolest mushroom style houses), Holland and Saugatuck.

It’s been so sad seeing the beautiful areas we were just at suffering from the wildfire smoke! Praying they end and it clears soon! by @mandilinde

Michigan Vacation Part 2

Love the Leelanau Peninsula!

The temperature didn’t get over 74 degrees and the Sun didn’t set until 9:30 each night and it would stay light for another hour after.

We stayed at the Jolli Lodge (imagine a smaller Kellerman’s from Dirty Dancing on Lake Michigan with less dancing and kayaking/paddle boarding instead).

Visited Suttons Bay for shopping and Leland to see Fishtown and eat at the Village Cheese Shanty.

We did Sleeping Bear Park and both Maizie and Wiley did the 450 ft Dune Climb this year!

Michigan Vacation Part 1
Detroit! We just had a quick visit in Detroit and visited the Eastern Market, explored the city a bit and spent HOURS at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.
This may have been Will’s favorite museum ever! From cars to trains to steam generators to American history, it had it all.
I think Gaga is having a good time too and is doing great keeping up with all our vacation craziness!

We closed out Junior Year for Maizie and Wiley this week! Sophomore year at UTC finished for Wren a couple weeks ago!

Here’s some end of the year events that have been keeping us busy over the last month:

~Theatre Banquet: Maizie got Best Costumes!
Wiley got Best Ensemble Actor!
~Spring Choir Concert!
~Wren’s Girls Trip to Savannah!
~State CPA for Vocal Ensemble, MOVE and LOVE choirs!
~Me finishing out my 5th year on the PTSO (don’t know how I’m going to do it without Tracy next year)!

Junior Prom for Maizie and Wiley!!! We had such a fun day! Starting with Brunch and Bouquets for the girls, lots of getting ready time, then everyone’s families coming over for pictures. Then they were off… for more pictures we’ll get later! 😉 Hope they are having the best time and dancing the night away!! by @mandilinde

Young and Sweet, Only 17!! 💃🏻🕺🏻. Maizie and Wiley had a great time celebrating their 17th birthdays last week with roller skating and hanging out with friends! Thanks Bronwyn Opelt for the amazing cakes again this year!! by @mandilinde

Just realized I never posted our Little Mermaid pictures!!

This year MJHS Golden Bear Theatre performed The Little Mermaid and I think it might have been their biggest show yet!

It definitely had the most costumes that Maizie has ever worked on for a show! Maizie and the whole Costume team all did such an amazing job!

Unfortunately, due to a technicality out of her control, they won’t be receiving a Spotlight nomination tomorrow for Costumes but I think we can all agree they would have been in the running to win Costume Design this year!!!

So proud of all the MANY hours she put into this show for months! 🧵🪡🎭

Also, shout out to Wiley for being the coolest Ship Pilot/ Shark/ Sea Gull/ Chef!!! He did awesome and had a ton of fun! ⚓️🦈👨‍🍳

Lastly, Will had a blast getting to help with the sets this year!

Happiest 17th Birthday to Bestest Twins Ever!!

For Spring Break this year I got to tag along with Maizie and Wiley and the MJHS Theatre on a trip to NYC!
We did it all!
Tours of Radio City and Carnegie Hall;
Top of the Rock and the 9/11 Museum and Memorial;
3 Broadway shows!! We got to see Great Gatsby, Ragtime, and Maybe Happy Ending, and they were all fantastic!
And so much more.
Rode the Staten Island Ferry the last day and some of the group even ran into Mayor Mamdani!
It was a trip they’ll never forget and I’m so grateful that I was able to share it with them! by @mandilinde

Ski adventures and college visits in Boone with the twins and one of their besties, plus Wren was able to join us!
The beautiful campus and fun town moved App State to the top of the possible college list for both Maizie and Wiley. We’ll see what the next year brings… by @mandilinde
