He said ONE word. And it changed everything. 🐴💚

At first, Melanie Dominko-Richards was just a six-year-old girl who loved horses. Her mom sent her to summer camp at what was then Somerset Hills Handicapped Riding Center. Little did she know, it would shape Melanie’s entire future.

Years later, while volunteering in the arena, Melanie witnessed a moment she would never forget.

A little boy who had never spoken a word was riding a pony named Sweetie. Suddenly, he looked at Melanie and said…

“TROT.” 🥹🐴

The team was stunned. His mom was crying outside the arena. And the little boy? He wanted to trot again. And again. And again.

That one word became the beginning of something extraordinary.

Today, Melanie is a speech language pathologist at @manestreamnj and the past president of the American Hippotherapy Association @theahainc . She currently works for an organization called @ourhousenj j, helping others experience the possibilities of equine-assisted services.

💚 Sometimes, a horse creates the connection that words cannot
