This weekend is bringing some real community goodness, supported by a sunny forecast 🌞

The Upper Hutt arts trail is on, and we're hosting both Mangaroa Farms team members and community members at the shop. Tyler will be carving limestone, Aleana on natural dye and textiles, Kari showcasing her clay pottery, Dani with her badges, plus candles, soaps and clay plant signs from the kids at the Earth School. Pop by the shop and see the work of these local artists as a part of your arts trail endeavours.

We also have our Pick Your Own happening again, with carrots, buttercrunch lettuce and pumpkins. Alongside this we have our coffee cart open 9am-1pm, and the Farm Shop open on Sat & Sun until 5pm, stocked with fresh beef and lamb from the farm.

See you soon 🥕

Have you wanted to connect with Mangaroa Farms, and see how things run behind the scenes? We're welcoming our community to join us as volunteers for the upcoming Spring Festival on Sat 31st October. This is a great way to engage with the team, connect deeper with the mission, and be a part of hosting 2000+ people for a day of farm charm. Roles include things like the food line, parking, kids zone, wayfinding, and general operations/runners.

If this sounds like fun for you, send us a DM or fill out the form at link in bio.

Spring is here, and so is our new garden education workshop series. Cam led the first session which centred around starting a garden bed. We covered choosing a site, reading soil health, soil aggregation, working with clay, and aerating with a broadfork.

Two bed experiments were laid down; one layered with cardboard, organic matter and compost, the other with organic matter and hay. Everyone went home with full notebooks, a handout, and a sample of BAM (a microbial concentrate) to bring their own soils to life.

Huge thanks to Cam for sharing this wisdom, and to everyone who came out. Next one is on Saturday 24 October where we'll be covering sowing and planting. Also come along to Pick Your Own, hosted every Saturday where we have kai available. Link in bio.

Learn some garden skills alongside Cam, our market garden wizard. These garden education workshops will run monthly until May, starting this weekend. You'll go through a full season of planning, sowing, managing, harvesting and preserving your own veges and garden.

This initiative by Mangaroa Farms aims to build more education and awareness around local food - a great way for you to get started or learn more about how to improve your home garden. We're also hosting our community seed & plant swap and opening our coffee cart this same day.
