Love Lye Mosaic Project

I am doing a pop of prep for the Lye Library Mosaic.

I'm trying not to be too prescriptive but it would be great if we had a starting point.

I'm mapping out my design using the patterns I have then from there the participants can change this to how they want the mosaic to unfold! It's all to play for!

The theme has been around the environment, community cohesion and togetherness. Certainly working together will definitely focus ourselves on these ideas.

Tools:
Montolit 55W2 wheel nippers
Vitrex heavy duty scorer snapper
Toyo glass scorer
Mosaic side biters
Nitras 8800 safety gloves

My pal @suewild came over for a cuppa. It's been a while since she visited, so she made this filmette as it's very different since she saw it a couple of years ago!

Dear Friends
Welcome to my Mango Mosaics Instagram Page!

I'd like to introduce myself to you, lovely folks.
I've been running this Instagram page since 2016.

I studied Fine Art BA(Hons) at Cardiff, graduating in 1988, followed by teacher training in further education in 1990 and a Masters in Art, Health and Wellbeing in 2012.

I am most proud of my A level Art... a defining E. Which just goes to show what nonsense the grade system is when it comes to your individual creativity and self-expression. It has never stopped me from fulfilling my dreams of being a successful working artist!

I live in Bearwood in the West Midlands, England.

I share Mosaic Top Tips & Tricks, my project commissions, one day workshops, and all the yummy things I'm creating in my mosaic home

If you enjoy my page, tell a friend 🥰🧡🥰 taken in Bearwood, West Midlands by @mangomosaics

Progress is being made in my "forever summertime " dining room 😎🥳🎨

I collected the beehive door knob and they fit perfectly and securely 🐝

Then some 25mm mosaic tiles arrived this morning, just in time to continue from the Saraswati Mosaic Mural.

I'm expecting the glass table and chairs imminently. More about that soon...! 😉🥰😘

Whoop! Whoop!
My fellow Masters degree friend, the talented stained-glass artist @jamal_rafay popped by with a big stash of glass offcuts for me to play with!

Please do follow Jamal's page. He is an amazing artist! 🎨

I'm very excited to see what's in the bag.
I have a plan to create a glass-on-glass mosaic on the dining table that is arriving on Thursday.

Popping you a Friday Filmette of the work so far.

The floor still needs a plywood cover with the Marmoleum Asian Tiger 🐅 or heavy duty carpet!

Got some edging to do for the skirting boards and a little tile tapestry around the fireplace!

There's lots more mosaic deliciousness to come as a new metal and glass table and chairs are arriving next week. I have plans to upcycle with some glass-on-glass mosaic gorgeousness.

What's not to love!

Oh my.... and here I am still at it! 🙄

Today I undercoated the skirting boards, first coat of Fickle Pickle olive green on the picture rail and then added the first coat of Fresh Squeezed deep yellow/mango!

This decorating lark is taking me FOR.EVER!!!🤪

However, I've been having ideas about edging picture rail to wall with a neat line of mosaic embellishment to tidy up the scruffy line!

It's all to play for! I am happy with the progress! I do wish I was done now!!! 🫣

Decorating my Dining Room continues...!

I have to say, this wrap around section to the light switch is so visually pleasing. It gives the Mandala Wall a gradual completion rather than an abrupt ending at a sharp corner. I enjoy looking at it 🙂

Maybe I'll pop another round of this #tiletapestry combo by the Saraswati Mosaic 🎨
