We’re late! We’re late! For a very important date!

Been 37 for a week and this cake almost didn’t make it. We’re overworked, overwhelmed and overwrought. Shout-out to my resident chef for pushing through 👨🏽‍🍳 This year it’s a triamisu cake, vanilla sponge with a light coffee soak, marscapone cream filling and mocha swiss meringue buttercream 🎂☕️🍫

He claims he has swiss meringue buttercream in the bag💁🏽‍♂️

We’re trying to slow down! The days are long but the years are short! But through it all we’re grateful for all of it! 🤲🏾✨

🍅🥫Happy All Gold Birthday to me! 🍅🥫

My cake request this year was a pecan nut pie with the pecans in neat rows on the top of the pie🥧 🎂🥮 What a challenge! This year tested Shafeeq’s technical skill and it was not a knock out the park but still tasted great! 🤤

(There was no singing this year.. only stressing 🤣)

He learnt about pie dough shrinkage and that displacement also happens in baking.. and I relearnt how much of a perfectionist he is. 😆 Good times all round!

As always grateful to be year older maybe not wiser 💕 I am excited for my 2026 cake already, Shafeeq is only thinking about remaking this pie to redeem himself 🤭 by @mangotearoom

35 and it’s a vaaibbbe ✨🥳

In keeping with tradition, this year’s birthday cake request was 🍊Orange Chiffon🍊(in all years I can’t believe I haven’t asked for a chiffon cake).

I fell asleep before he got to the icing but I would say a pretty good job all round! I only fielded a handful of questions but everything else was all Shaf!

What privilege to be able to turn another year older! ✨Just breathe it all in and love it all out! ✨

(also don’t tell him I mentioned it but this soundbite is Shaf’s favourite bit to sing🎤 while in the kitchen) by @mangotearoom

It’s taken us about thirty years and whole pandemic but my sister and I are finally doing something together!

We are starting small and staying cute!

@ruminate.online coming soon! by @mangotearoom

I often come on IG and feel guilty for how all other small businesses have worked so hard and thrived in this time when I feel like I have done nothing (partly why I just haven’t posted because what do I have to show for it!) Going back to studying, turning 31 and now nursing an injury! 2020 has been a year of inward focus and learning to love things I thought I had let go of a long time ago
🌸💕🌸

This moreish dark chocolate cake with dulce de leche buttercream was lovingly made for me to ring in my 31st birthday. A yearly tradition I have become fond of! It is easy to feel “over the hill” but instead I think of it as “on the horizon” hopeful for 2021 and especially thankful for everything ✨💫 ✨ Be back soon inshallah! by @mangotearoom

Small batch, fresh flavours and wholesomeness✨What we are all about, perfect in their imperfect way but still works of art & love in their own right ❤️ Flavours of granadilla, orange & vanilla •

What’s even better? This cake is made with majority local ingredients from the eggs to the flour to the fruit! And the fresh granadilla straight from our garden🍃🐛It just takes a lil research and commitment to support local but makes the biggest difference to local farmers & producers👩🏾‍🌾

Grateful to have the opportunity to support other small business who in turn uplift my small business 🥰 Shoutout to this client who pretty much just trusted what I was doing! 🤗 by @mangotearoom

And just like that the year draws to a close ✨🍒 💫 What better way to send of 2019 with fresh warm fruit mince pies🥧Made with crisp buttery pastry and filled with spicy warm fruit mince. •

Thank you to everyone who supported us this year, from near and far 🤗 There are some changes happening in 2020 & we are both scared and excited!

While we may have eaten lots while holidaying, it has actually inspired me to start writing again 🖌📝Anyone interested in a fortnightly newsletter, with some curated local content and a short food related piece? Vote in the poll in stories above ☝🏾 by @mangotearoom

These 🧀cheesey🧀 scones I made on the fly today because I was so hungry. Packed with Danish Feta, Parmesan, Mature Cheddar and finished with cracked black pepper. Honestly it was the best thing since sliced bread! 🥖Cheesy goodness in every bite full, no skimping on fillings here 🙅🏾‍♀️ •

Is there anything worse than buying a scone/muffin/cupcake that promises to be filled with yummy things and then it’s MEGA light on the filling? Wow. 😒 Not a fan! by @mangotearoom
