Feels Surreal ✨
Our film *“Ancessao”* has been officially selected for International Film Festival of South Asia, IFFSA Toronto 2025.
A Goan story, born in our small corner of the world, is now going to be screened on a silver screen miles away. 🌍📽️

This journey has been nothing short of a dream.✨
Waiting, working, doubting, and hoping…
And today it all feels worth it.🥹

I am humbled and proud at the same time.
This isn’t just my victory it’s our team’s victory. Every single person who gave their energy, love, and sleepless nights to this film has made this possible. 🤞

Goa is on the international stage, and we carry this moment for all of us. 🙏❤️
Please keep us and *Ancessao* in your blessings as we take this story to the world.🌎

Finally watched Ancessao on the big screen ! 🤓 Ancessao is a quiet, character-driven Konkani film that uses humour to explore a much deeper sense of loneliness. It follows an elderly Goan woman named "Ancessao" living alone in her village, whose fascination with other people's lives—and her tendency to gossip—becomes a way of filling the silence around her. You know somewhat like the typical “Goan aunty” who gossips all the time. With little happening in her own life, the lives of those around her become her source of connection, curiosity and entertainment.

Beneath the humour, the film touches on ageing, isolation, the need for human connection, and what happens when someone's own world slowly becomes quieter. Thanks to @heritagefirstgoa for the screening!Amazing work by @mangs_dp03 @talpankarprashanti and everyone else involved. 🙌🏼👏

Made this sketch inspired by Ancessao aunty peeping through the window 🎨👀 iykyk

HERITAGE FIRST GOA PRESENTS
FRIENDS OF FILM
OUR RIVERS • OUR STORIES

The state of Goa has an abundance of 11 major rivers and several hundred freshwater springs, tributaries, and minor water freshwater bodies. Its estuaries and mangrove ecosystems are also breeding grounds for fish and other marine organisms that provide the people of Goa and the lakhs of visitors that come to enjoy the unique cuisine of this state with food and livelihoods.
In the light of the current status of the river generally known as Mhadei, Mahadei, Mahadayi or the Mandovi, including pollution, diversion, increased salinity, marine life depletion, siltation, overburdened by transportation and others,

Our film festival 2026 has curated a set of films made by filmmakers based in Goa on the river for the first of the two segments of the Festival.

In the Second segment, we have hand-picked a set of films that tell stories, works of fiction that have their basis in fact, in real-life situations. Award-winning films like Ancessao will be screened followed by a conversation with the film maker and the main protagonists. All in all, the festival hopes to wrap our heads and our hearts around our lives, our stories, the Goa of our experience, the Goa of our everyday life.
