Come to MoCADA from October 9th to 11th and discover Jennica Drice @manmzelnica latest creation answering our theme this year โ€œLo Sakreฬโ€.
โ€œI work in blue. Indigo, cyanotype, denim, cotton. Blue is both language and landscape to me. It holds mourning and freedom, ceremony and survival. Across Haitian Vodou shrines, Muslim tiles, and Catholic robes, blue is often understood as a sacred color, one that summons and protects whatever realm holds your belief.โ€ the Haitian textile artist shares.
It came as an evidence to invite her to our 3rd edition this year and weโ€™re thrilled to welcome her work alongside 3 other artists of the global creole diaspora.

About Kreฬol Fest:
This festival is a celebration of Creole cultures through music, dance, visual arts, literature, fashion, and food during international Creole Heritage Month.
Born from a desire to educate and connect, it showcases the richness and diversity of Creole heritage on a global scale.
For its 3rd edition, the program will consist of an opening ceremony with a jam session, live performances, a market place, conferences, workshops and a closing dj set.
A free program, for all generations.

Thanks to our partners and sponsors @mocada_museum @haiticulturalx @bkartscouncil @oifrancophonie

Feeling blue? ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉต Local textile artist Jennica Drice (@manmzelnica) brings us: A Language of Blue, a cyanotype workshop! This hands-on experience will explore how sunlight, objects, and photographs can become a visual language.

Learn the fundamentals of this historic photographic process while experimenting with photograms, botanicals, textiles, found objects, and photographic imagery to create your own distinctive blue prints. Designed for artists, makers, and curious beginners, the workshop encourages experimentation with composition, layering, texture, and exposure while thinking about the stories objects and images can hold.

๐Ÿฉต You'll leave with a collection of original cyanotype prints and the foundational knowledge to continue exploring the process on your own.

๐Ÿ’™ No previous experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
