See you on October 3rd! by @manther888

Above average sunrise here at the little Grand Canyon in Castle Dale, Utah to celebrate the end of a really intense concert season. 10/10 camping spot. 35 miles of unpaved road was a slog but Viv the Riv handled it with ease. by @manther888

George Nickson explains why twelve ordinary notes have given us centuries of extraordinary music.

Turns out the ingredients were never the interesting part.

J.S. Bach. Steve Reich. Christopher Cerrone.

The same twelve notes.

Walk into any serious kitchen and you'll find many of the same ingredients. Salt. Butter. Flour. Fire.

No one remembers the recipe because of the pantry.

They remember what the chef did with it.

Music works the same way.

Every Western composer begins with the same twelve notes. The ingredients stay the same—it's the alchemy, the preparation, and the imagination that transform them.
