Some days, managing HIV can feel like more than just taking a pill. 🌿

Today, 10 October, is World Mental Health Day. 💭

Living with HIV can come with stress, worries about disclosure, stigma or simply the exhaustion of having to think about your health over and over again.

And when your mental health is struggling, even everyday things like getting treatment, going to appointments or asking for support can feel harder.

That’s why mental health should be part of HIV care, not something we only talk about when things become overwhelming.

If you’re having a difficult time, reaching out to someone you trust or a healthcare professional can be a good first step. 🤝

On 26 March in Shoreditch, I had the privilege of speaking at an in‑person event hosted by @pride matters in tech , alongside colleagues from Colt Technology Services and Stonewall Housing.

The panel explored a question that feels more urgent than ever:

Does having a roof over your head mean you have a home?

Following LGBT+ History Month, this conversation created space to reflect on decades of lived experience within our communities — where housing has too often been uncertain, unsafe, or conditional.

Stonewall Housing shared vital insight into the work they do, the impact they have, and how they work with organisations through outreach programmes.

As a Stonewall Housing Ambassador, contributing to this discussion was especially meaningful to me as a speaker, author, and advocate.

My work — and my recently launched book — focus on the intersection of homelessness and LGBTQ+ lived experience, centring community voices, dignity, and the need for inclusive, community‑led housing solutions.

Events like this matter because dialogue leads to action. Real progress happens when the tech sector, housing organisations, and communities come together to create spaces where housing means home, safety, and belonging.

Special thanks to Lee Israel, Maya Joseph-Chavez , and Clare for the collaboration and leadership that helped make this event such a meaningful and impactful conversation.
