This marks the formal farewell to L&S 63 as an only child, because tomorrow she’ll get a baby sis. The sixty-fourth issue of the Lights & Shadows, Remembrance, taught me that creating something entirely new is way easier than sustaining and evolving from what already exists. A new volume under the same editor-in-chief calls for a unique balance between preservation and reinvention, and this balance becomes quite the fine line. This challenge brought me to branch from last year’s theme, and it seemed proper to question how much of our [dis]comfort of knowing is shaped by our perspectives of reality and the unreliability of memory. Anyway, there’s much Humean symbolism here. Every design element of this journal has been thoroughly thought through, because I love an alliteration and a careful construction. Thank you to my editorial staff, who are also my best friends, working is easy with you. Thank you to all who submitted. Thank you to all our university sponsors. Thank you to the reader.
