Congratulations to the 2026 Anonymous Was a Woman New York Foundation for the Arts grantees! I was honored to receive this grant two years ago, and be asked to become a panelist for this year. Out of the 200+ applicants I personally reviewed, (when all the things were due and I became increasingly inspired reading everyone's dreams) Korina Emmerich's was a fast tracker to next round! So glad you made it the whole way!

So glad and grateful these artists and projects are receiving support and recognition at this time. Thank you NYFA and AWAW for how you're prioritizing women into this new chapter.

Led by visionary 𐓷𐓘𐓻𐓘𐓻𐓟 (Wah-Zha-Zhe, Osage) artist brooke smiley and developed by SOZO, EARTH.SPEAKS is a multi-year national initiative that reimagines the intersection of Indigeneity, the body, technology and the land. Through the co-creation of physical and virtual earth markers, EARTH.SPEAKS fosters healing and cultural renewal.

We are currently prototyping an interactive app on Southern Ute and Chumash lands in collaboration with creative technologist Timothy Wood, centering and weaving Native knowledge, language, and creative contribution into a living archive.

Last earth marker complete!! A woman who is 80 helped me finish! I arrived specifically telling myself not be too ambitious, but after connecting with the Southern Ute, community has showed up to make this big vision a reality. I am so grateful for a very rich, life imprinting experience.

This last bench is dedicated to my little cousin Vannessa Wilson, who knew this last one needed to be a little love seat. I am so honored you came, and worked, and lived the earth builder life with me. You are so beautiful on the inside and out. Jimmy Ray and Danika Falsone I am so glad you chose to have her. I am so proud of who you are Vannessa ✨🌷✨

Thank you Green Box Arts and Sozo Artists!! First EARTH.SPEAKS marker is ready for that final earth plaster and then it’s all about the community enjoying it! by @many__herds_____

The first EARTH.SPEAKS is almost complete!! Designed in collaboration with Cassandra Atencio and the Southern Ute Tribe, this public art project uplifts messages of the land. It has been built by and for the community, a series of five benches, a relaxed hand, palm open, with the creek running through the center towards the body. …When a 21 year old showed up with eight friends for their birthday to finish our last bench last night, and thanked me for creating something positive they could do together, my heart melted again. I am softened by how much this work is meaning to people here. Grateful to be dreaming and living in the big dreams. Thank you Green Box Arts for this opportunity and Sozo Artists for your belief and support in what I contribute. by @many__herds_____
