It has been two weeks since Jonell had her kidney transplant, one week since being released from the hospital. Jonell continues to recover in Rochester through the ups and downs, monitoring the numbers and attending appointments.

What a weekend of fall color! After a rainy Saturday that was beautiful in its own way, the sun popped out on Sunday and accentuated the peak of most of the maples around Maplelag. Calm conditions made for a magical day and full on Fall globe feel.

The deep woods still have plenty of green and the oaks, birch and poplar trees will soon follow with their display. Mushrooms are loving all the recent rain with new ones popping up daily.

Always a treat to have guests to appreciate and enjoy this special time of year at Maplelag. Thank you!

Happy Autumnal equinox! The crisp nights and cool days have been welcoming as the colors are really starting to come to life around Maplelag. Good moisture in the soil when the forest was coming to life back in the spring provided thick and lush trees and underbrush. All the seasons are unique but Fall special with each day looking a bit different.

We are anticipating a spectacular fall color season, maybe starting a few days later this year. Autumn scenes typically run into late October. The maples start first and tamarack’s last to change (the only coniferous tree to change color and bud again in the spring) A great time to enjoy the trails, a hot sauna and a dip in the lake. Jonell's kidney transplant procedure was successful. It's been a up and down recovering process with some complications but we are incredibly grateful for the wonderful staff at Mayo in Rochester and the organ and blood donors. Please continue to keep her in prayer and thoughts as she continues to recover from the challenges in this major surgery. Thanks for all the love and support.

Today we wandered.

Not to beat a time or race through the trail, but to challenge ourselves, slow down, and reconnect — with nature, ourselves, and some pretty amazing women.

Our first-ever Wanderfest was about so much more than miles. It was about laughter, conversations, encouragement, and the little moments of wonder that happen when women come together and simply wander.

Thank you to everyone who made our first Wanderfest so special.

What makes a place worth coming back to year after year?

For some guests at @maplelagresort, it’s an authentic Finnish sauna session followed by a jump in the lake after a day full of skiing.

Sauna has been part of Jay Richards’ life for as long as he can remember. When his family first moved to Maplelag, it was where they bathed. Over time, it became something they shared with the people who came to stay.

Some guests arrive unsure about the heat or hesitant to take the plunge. Then they try it. And sometimes, it becomes the experience they spend the next year waiting to do again.

That’s the kind of tradition Jay and his family have built at Maplelag. One rooted in their own history, shared generously with everyone who comes through.

We’re grateful to have played a small part in helping them carry it forward.

Hi everyone. This is Elsa from Maplelag. Come and stop in the Hygge to see all the great items Mimi has in the store! New fall and early winter items and a fresh batch of roasted coffee from @chickadeecoffeeroasters featuring the growing in popularity Little Sugarbush blend. Memberships also available to purchase.

This Sunday 9/6 we will have @woodfire_dl from 11-2:30 and coffee from @sisters.and.sips 8:30-11. Also Mike Gilson will be strumming his guitar!

Store does not have regular hours or any online sales but contact us and someone is always around to help. The store will be open next Friday and Saturday as well during WanderFest!

A kidney match has been found! We received the news that a living donor match has been found for Jonell. We are very grateful for Maplelag guests, close friends and family that went through the process to see if they are a match.

Surgery is currently set for September 15th. We appreciate the prayers, thoughts and kindness throughout this whole process.
