The presence of God is not confined only to a building, but manifests in the things He’s made and the relationship between them. To divide any from one another is to divide this relationship. Much like the literal body, no one part is meant to work on its own, rather in holistic harmony, each informing the others. Nature, humankind, and the act of creating all make up His kingdom.

Sometimes I attend a church on Sunday. Lately I’ve experienced His service in the September wind, lifting the willow’s many laments, the dragonflies bright as blood resting on the maiden grass below. I hear His voice in a conversation on a living room floor with tea and candlelight. I break bread with His body, real people with real doubts and fears and hopes. I do not forsake the gathering—I find it pulsing beneath the shame and expectation that God is as small as our conception of Him. For freedom He has set us free, and by His grace He reveals Himself in everything, calling me to worship. by @mar.lei.lynn

August was remembering that my whole life comes back to relationship—with this earth, the Maker of it, and those he’s set before me to know and to love. If that was all I had for the rest of my life, wherever I was, it would be enough, even with all the imperfections. Especially in the imperfections, for there I understand grace. Truly, the grace of Christ has made me patient and generous in the face of fear, with an abundance beyond my will alone to manifest. by @mar.lei.lynn
