This month, we welcome four artists to our Creative Space Artist in Residence Program, in Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood, Dubai, in collaboration with Dubai Culture

Mahra, Farva, Priyanka & Jack.

A month to create, experiment, research, and most importantly… play.

@farvanadim Farva Nadim is a multidisciplinary writer, artist, and independent researcher whose work explores memory, migration, urban identity, and the emotional landscapes between people and places. A lifelong learner, she aims to capture the liminal spaces between the rational and mystical through her work.

@jck.nyt Jack Valentine is a multimedia artist, photographer, and stranger. Her work wrangles the weird and wild themes all around, in an effort to make them just a little more relatable to the core human experience.

@mar___als Mahra Alsuwaidi is an Emirati artist and founder of Kunn space, based in Abu Dhabi (2000). Her practice stems from a lifelong fascination with materials, particularly fabrics and garments, and the quiet ways they fold, move, and shape the world around us.

Focusing primarily on installation and sculpture, she questions materiality and the histories embedded within garments. Working with discarded textiles and everyday objects, she challenges ideas of obsolescence by reimagining materials beyond their original purpose. Through layering, merging, and transformation, she creates pieces that carry renewed life: objects meant to be worn, held, touched, and experienced.

@kesangwashere Priyanka Dhurandhar (Kesang) is an Indo-Tibetan artist and practicing architect based in Dubai. Her multidisciplinary practice explores memory, nostalgia, identity and the spaces we inhabit, often drawing from childhood, popular culture, architecture and everyday objects. Through drawing, illustration, installation and participatory experiences, she creates playful worlds that invite people to reconnect with things we unknowingly grew out of.

She is the founder of Gluestick Gazette, a growing cr by @mar___als

الوَلَع هو معرض جماعي يستكشف الأشياء التي لا نستطيع التوقف عن التفكير فيها؛ ليس بوصفها هواجس، بل كمصادر إلهام تشكّل طريقتنا
في الإبداع، والتذكر، وفهم العالم من حولنا.
يستمر المعرض حتى 17 أكتوبر.

Some thoughts refuse to leave us. They return in quiet moments, appear in dreams, and linger long after we think we have moved on. They can be people, places, memories, ideas, sounds, or fleeting moments that become part of us.
Fixation is a group exhibition exploring the things we cannot stop thinking about not as obsessions, but as muses that shape how we create, remember, and understand the world.
The exhibition runs until 17 October.
