At maraa, we imagine our office as a shared space. Inter-dependent, multi dimensional & open to all kinds of possibilities.

We have rooms suited for meetings/workshops, a hall which is perfect for large gatherings/ rehearsals, a terrace surrounded by Ashoka trees, a swing to laze and read, and a large open kitchen to cook and feed.

We wish to share our office space, to subsidize rent, find ways to seed & enable work & share resources. If you are looking for a space to edit a film, rehearse for a play, host a workshop/meeting, get in touch. DM to know more, spread the word!

We received an overwhelming response, and we have tried our best to include as many films in the festival. Save the date to watch some beautiful interpretations of the world around us. She is not asleep is a night walk, held in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence. On grounds of caste, class, religion, sexual violence continues to be a form of control and punishment, for anyone who dares to cross the boundaries of morality. Some forms of violence see the light of day, other kinds of violence continue to perpetuate in mundane and routine forms. She is not asleep is an invitation to walk together against all these forms of violence. Together, we will explore different experiences, moods and memories of the night, of violence, of solidarity and resistance. What comes to light in the darkness of the night? The intention is to encourage conversation across intersections of caste, class and sexuality, because the night sky looks different to each of us. We are only truly free, when each and every one of us is free.

CROSSOVER: a 3 day workshop on Bahujan Spectatorship in film practice

To make art is to return, to ourselves, to our artist child, to the ways we've been taught to see and be seen. Crossover is an invitation to unlearn that gaze. Across three days, practitioners will sit with the idea of gaze itself, Brahminical gaze, and how it has shaped the representation of caste, gender, race and class in cinema and art. It is a radical, practical unlearning, a space to build a more conscious, nuanced way of looking at ourselves, at culture, and at the stories we tell.

Conducted by @jyotinisha who is a filmmaker, producer, academician and writer, known for developing the theory of Bahujan Spectatorship, which examines how India's marginalized communities consume and are represented within popular cinema.

ಅವಳು ಮಲಗಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ಹಿಂಸೆಯಿಂದ ಬದುಕುಳಿದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ನಡಿಗೆ.

ಜಾತಿ, ವರ್ಗ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮದ ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ನೈತಿಕತೆಯ ಗಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರುವ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವ ಯಾರ ಮೇಲಾದರೂ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯ ಒಂದು ರೂಪವಾಗಿ ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ಹಿಂಸೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದೆ. ಹಿಂಸೆಯ ಕೆಲವು ರೂಪಗಳು ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಇನ್ನಿತರ ರೂಪಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ದೈನಂದಿನ, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಬದುಕಿನೊಳಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸದೆಯೇ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತವೆ.

ಅವಳು ಮಲಗಿಲ್ಲ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಿಂಸೆಯ ರೂಪಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಒಂದು ಆಹ್ವಾನ. ರಾತ್ರಿಯ, ಹಿಂಸೆಯ, ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿರೋಧದ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಅನುಭವಗಳು, ಭಾವಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನೆನಪುಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಅನ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
**ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೆಲ್ಲ ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ?**

ಜಾತಿ, ವರ್ಗ ಮತ್ತು ಲೈಂಗಿಕತೆಯ ಸಂಗಮದ ಕುರಿತು ಸಂವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುವುದು ಇದರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಆಕಾಶ ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರರಾಗಿರುವಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ನಾವು ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರರಾಗಿರುತ್ತೇವೆ.
