Finally matting and framing this swamp watercolor I think I completed years ago, but it didn’t feel finished at the time. Watercolor never feels finished to me, and I have a tense, tortured love of negative space.

I miss New Orleans.

A guy from a moving company I once hired had told me horror stories about the sort of packing they regularly encountered. He told us how he’d one time picked up a plastic garbage bag full of kitchen knives. I was FASCINATED. Imagine what kind of life experience, or lack thereof, you need to have to think packing knives in a plastic bag made sense. We started calling the cat “bag o’ knives” because handling her was sometimes a similar experience.
