The Montage Open comp was a rollercoaster….

The Snatch wasn’t a good start, failing twice 68kg put me into that ugly spot about to bomb out, but if I can do something right, is focus under pressure, and manage to get a good third rep, phew!!

But the Clean and Jerks were so good and consistent! And after three comps of failing to score 100kg at last! It happened! I can coin my $1 now and scratch this goal from the board! Wasn’t perfect lots of work to do still…

Thank you to @montage_barbell_club and @felipecoelho33 it has been bumpy road! The Montage fam! 🙌🏻

72kg Snatch PB. Friday was one of my bests days in weightlifting, all the work of prior weeks, trying to be patient and trust the process, on Friday it all happened! Big preparation for our home comp, hoping I can take of these lifts to the comp platform.

Couldn’t have done it without @montage_barbell_club and @felipecoelho33 coaching and constant adaptations to my training.

Everyone in this sport has that number. The one that messes with your head. You hit it, go past it… then suddenly you’re stuck under it again.

For me, it was the 70kg snatch.

I’ve hit 72, 74… but somehow couldn’t get past 68 for months. That’s when it stops being physical and turns into a mental grind. Every time I thought I was close, nope. Mobility, timing, technique… all of it humbled me.

So we stripped it back to zero. Rebuilt everything. Changed the movement, tested ideas, some worked, some didn’t. But we kept showing up.

This comp at Montage Barbell Club hit different. It’s my home gym. The kind of place where it doesn’t matter what’s on the bar you’re very supported either way.

Brett and I had a deal: if I missed it on the platform, we’d get it done in the warm-up room.

And yeah… that’s exactly what happened.

But we got it!

The feeling is literally like a weight is off my shoulders…

Thank you Brent, for believing in me, when I didn’t!
