Something’s gotta be in the water.

Two weeks ago, Birmingham director and cinematographer @marcusjay_dp released The Knowing. Since then, it’s passed 1M+ combined views and earned a selection at LA’s Night Frights Festival.

This comes as horror is having a major run. From breakouts like Backrooms and Obsession to local indie films like Southern Scares and now The Knowing, many roots are tracing back to Alabama. It almost feels like a resurgence of the Muscle Shoals energy - this time in film.

Stream The Knowing on YouTube.

Shot across Odenville, Pelham, Hueytown, and Downtown Birmingham.

“The Knowing” (LINK IN BIO) is a psychological horror short film directed, shot, edited, and written by me! It’s staring the very very talented @blynn_cuhh . Brittany I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication to the project and I think it shows because you did an amazing job! You are more than just a comedian, you can do it all my friend! @selenamogul this project would not have happened without you, you stepped into this role on short notice and you did not mess around! Major Kudos to you! I also want to give a huge shout out to my amazing wife @tylomonroe for consulting with me throughout this entire process and adding in some great ideas. I also appreciate you for being our caller in distress! 😂 Even without dialogue @ichabod_temperance and @the_coreyw added so much to the film, I can’t thank you guys enough! And to my amazing crew @notdeseanmotley @jorithehistorian @nicholas_ferlisi @jknox_photography I appreciate every second of time you guys gave me on this film! We were a small but mighty crew!
