Ein Lampenschirm wird zum Hut. Eine alte Küche zur Filmkulisse. Und ein Blick lässt eine Geschichte entstehen, deren Ausgang wir nicht kennen.

Für mich lebt Noir-Fotografie von diesem Spiel: Licht, das etwas preisgibt. Schatten, die etwas offenlassen. Dazu ein wenig Eleganz, Irritation und Humor.

Dieses Bild entstand in einem meiner Workshops. Dort darf ausprobiert werden. Eine spontane Idee, ein ungewöhnlicher Gegenstand – und plötzlich bekommt eine Szene ihren ganz eigenen Charakter. Traut eurem Blick. Oft beginnt genau dort das spannende Bild.

A lampshade becomes a hat. An old kitchen becomes a film set. And a glance becomes the beginning of a story whose ending we don’t know.

For me, noir photography comes alive through this interplay: light that reveals something. Shadows that leave something unresolved. A little elegance, intrigue and humour.

This photograph was created during one of my workshops. There’s room to experiment. A spontaneous idea, an unusual object — and suddenly a scene takes on a character of its own. Trust your eye. That’s often where a compelling photograph begins.
