Such a fun conversation with @carrollpatrizi for her podcast, Conversations with Carroll, about why I decided to write Raising an Entrepreneur. She got me to explain what it had to do with the origins of @summit and how my boys talked me into writing a book. (Thanks @austy!) The episode is called Raising Children Who Are Brave Enough To Be Themselves. #courage #raisinganentrepreneur by @margotbisnow

It’s a little crazy, but actually a 4-day bike trip along the C&O Canal, from Berkeley Springs WVA to DC, was one of my first dates with Mark, aka @miamiwalker. It obviously worked out, as I’m retelling this 40+ years later! 😂 I hadn’t been to the C&O in ages, and forgot how beautiful it is. #raisinganentrepreneur by @margotbisnow

She walked into room after room of high-achieving entrepreneurs and asked them all the same question.

How did you turn out this way?

And every single one gave her the exact same answer.

New episode just dropped - and what Margot Machol discovered is going to change how you lead your team, raise your kids, and think about your own role as someone who builds people up.

Here's what grabbed me most in this conversation:

Most leaders think they're supporting their people. But there are two very specific ways we accidentally kill the entrepreneurial mindset in the people we lead - and one of them is something we think is actually kind. (It's not.)

Margot also shares a decision-making framework she uses 100 times a day that helps anyone - risk-averse or not - start thinking about tradeoffs with clarity and confidence.

CLARATY is Currency. And this episode is loaded with it.

Listen now - link in bio. And if this resonates, share it with someone on your team who needs to hear it.

Makes me laugh to see the little monkey teeth marks on this tube! So much of visiting Kenya is awe inspiring. This is just a good giggle. Can’t wait to go back. @sarara #raisinganentrepreneur #kenya #visitafrica #monkeys by @margotbisnow

It’s always hard on 9-11 to process the horrors of that day. And I think people outside New York can’t comprehend what the entire city went through. Sending love to everyone who lost someone on that day. 💔#raisinganentrepreneur #parent by @margotbisnow

What if we stopped asking, “What grades did you get?” and started asking, “What makes you light up?” 💛

As parents, it’s so easy to get caught up in grades, university, careers and the pressure to “set them up for success”.

But what if we paused and asked a different question:

What gives my child joy?

My guest @margotbisnow , author of Raising an Entrepreneur: How to Help Your Children Achieve Their Dreams – 99 Stories from Families Who Did, shares the lessons she discovered from families who raised thriving entrepreneurs.

And one really matters: pay attention to your child. ❤️

Notice what they’re good at.
Notice what they love.
Notice what they could happily spend hours doing.

Because sometimes our children don’t need us to choose their path.

They need us to help them discover it.

💛 A must-listen for parents who want to support their kids without forcing the traditional path.

Crazy to see Craters of the Moon, a National Monument in Idaho, with lava eruptions over millions of years (most recently just a couple thousand years ago), so weird that even astronauts train here before they go to outer space. #cratersofthemoon #lava #raisinganentrepreneur taken in Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve by @margotbisnow

Quite extraordinary. I’ve never seen a rainbow at the bottom of a waterfall. #shoshonefalls a little more than halfway between @powdermountain & @sunvalley. Worth the journey. #rainbow #raisinganentrepreneur #waterfall taken in Shoshone Falls State Park by @margotbisnow

If you’ve been sitting on an idea… this chat with @MargotBisnow is your sign!

There’s never going to be a perfect time.

And no matter what you choose, guilt will try to follow.

So you might as well choose the path that excites you.

Start messy.

Ask for help.

Figure it out as you go.

You don’t need all the answers to begin.

I’m getting a lot of nasty comments, so I’m going to try again to explain why I was frustrated. I’ve stayed at @thelittleamericahotel in downtown Salt Lake many times and I’m normally a big fan of the hotel. I received an email saying to let them know if there was anything they could do to make my stay better. I made a very reasonable request, for a noon checkout, and was told that would be an extra $30. It annoyed me that they don’t seem to value loyalty, or appreciate their repeat customers. #hotelloyalty #raisinganentrepreneur by @margotbisnow

My attempt to explain the spectacular Paper Airplane - the first sculpture on @powdermountain - to visitors @justfishkin & @pensando.nada. By @griffinloop, also called Launch Intention, it’s part of the @powderartfoundation - and on one of my favorite trails. #raisinganentrepreneur #art #outdoorart #outdoorsculpture #powdermountain taken in Powder Mountain by @margotbisnow
