To @lashortsfest — thank you.

To every programmer, staff member, panelist, and volunteer who showed up with passion, dedication, and genuine love for cinema — you made filmmakers feel seen, supported, and celebrated. That is no small thing.

There is something irreplaceable about a room full of strangers feeling something together. Thank you for creating that.

And to the filmmakers who shared these two weeks — thank you for the stories you told and for what you made us feel long after the lights came up.

"In the Deep" is honored to have had its world premiere here. Grateful beyond words.

Today, In the Deep has its World Premiere at LA Shorts.

On a day like today, I can’t help but think about how rare a gift it has been to get here this way.

I’ve been quiet about my journey because I never needed the world to know.
But this moment didn’t arrive by accident.

I have been incredibly fortunate—blessed, really, and very, very lucky to have spent years side by side with some of the most masterful directors of our time.

Filmmakers like Joe Johnston, whose mastery of pacing and the architecture of a scene always begins and ends with the human at its center; Michael Mann, whose relentless pursuit of authenticity and precision makes you feel the life continuing beyond the frame; Spike Lee, whose fearless, singular voice and unwavering commitment to his point of view remind you that filmmaking is an act of courage.

And all of them, despite all the planning, made room for that unexpected, magical moment.

I watched every decision. Every performance. Every frame.

I lived inside their filmmaking worlds and hoped that something—even the smallest thing—would find its way into me.

I know they shaped how I see and how I listen.

And I know what they never stopped reaching for:

Something true.
