✨ Sweater reveal, as promised! ✨ still whipping up some whimsy over here!

Remember those rainbow ceramic buttons a few reels back? I made them (at @therivetds, of course) *specifically* for this clearance-find sweater, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite layers to throw on. Just not during this heat wave!

I loveeeee knowing this sweater got a second chance. Instead of languishing on the clearance rack with boring gold plastic buttons, she’s out here living her best life.

This was my first time BOTH replacing buttons AND making my own from clay. 10/10 would do it again.

Now I’m looking at every thrifted or overlooked piece in my closet thinking… “but…cuter buttons?” 🌈

Sincere apologies if yas are tired of seeing this garden arch, but in the MOST exciting of today’s garden developments, I MUST report… SOME SUNNIES HAVE BLOOMED and the arch has never looked cuter. 💁‍♀️

🌻 more sunflowers on the way. Yes, that’s a threat.

You know what I love? Finding someone who makes the most stunning art AND shares their process and knowledge in a way that’s actually useful for your most recent creative obsession… (and you know what? may have even *inspired* said obsession in the first place).

Started by playing with a flower last night. Then made another. Then thinned out the petals. Then kept going.

Left to do… nitpicks and gluing the design and adding grout and maybe even a frame?!

Became a citizen of this planet 38 years ago today! Spent the morning ten toes in the dirt, checking on my flowers, and worked on a couple of mosaic projects (eeeee I forgot how much I loved this when we made picture frames with @_robinegg_ in high school 😱)

I have some more tiles soooo this should be a fun new lil mosaic era! Have only been cutting and designing so far… adhering and grouting to come.

In honor of humpday, my zucchini had some squash sex today and I thought it might be a nice lil garden education moment. 👉👌

Keep scrolling if you’re not plant-sex positive! I just love to see two consenting squash flowers make a zucchini baby. Apparently the cucumber beetles are a couple of freaks too. 👀

Ok here’s what’s up. Do your plants ever have little *teeny*zuch*eeeee*ni that shrivel up and turn yellow and never mature? That usually means the lady flower didn’t get pollinated properly! Rude.

Enter: hand pollination i.e. squash sex. 🔥

I learned about this technique back when I first started gardening (thanks to @deannacat3 @homesteadandchill, the OG, offering endless inspiration and garden knowledge).

So in the morning while flowers are open, you just find a male flower (long stem, not attached to a baby zucchini), and rub its pollen on a female flower (attached to a baby zucchini). That’s literally it.

If everything goes as planned, the tiny squash behind the flower will keep growing over the next few days!

The bees *normally* handle this job, but sometimes they’re busy, the weather doesn’t cooperate, or squash flowers bloom at different times! 🐝

Anyway... congrats to these two. Expecting a baby in about a week. 😘

That’s better! This corner of my garden features a bunch of sauce tomatoes planted prettyyyyy close to each other. They were gifted to me by my friends at @cramerfarm_howardpa 🫶

My plants were in need of a light pruning for airflow, and needed to be tied up / supported so they don’t sprawl all over the ground!

On the side with plants between two T-posts, I tie them up using the “Florida weave” method. On the side where I have a cattle panel trellis, I just weave the vines through the spaces in the panel.

I also got sick of weeding between the pepper plants in the next row so I laid down some black landscape fabric! Pretty sure that whole section is inferno peppers I started from seed 🤞
