Escaped London for the weekend for a much needed break in nature after a few hectic weeks 🌲🍁🍂

We packed our tents and headed to East Sussex, staying at a little private island that looked like somewhere out of a storybook with all the autumn colours around us. We got so lucky with the sun shining all weekend, though the bonfire was a really nice added bonus to keep us extra warm and cosy! 🏕️🥾🪵

We walked part of the Cowbeech Circular Trail through quiet roads and woods, and finished, as all good Sundays should, with a roast by the fire 🥧🍺🕯️

A witchy day out in the English countryside 🧙🏻‍♀️🍂🔮 This was the PERFECT cosy autumnal day out from London!!

A little reminder if you’re planning to visit: please be respectful of the woodland, stick to public footpaths, leave no trace and remember that the pub is a working business, not just a filming location. The staff was SO SO lovely!! Let’s look after the places we love sharing 🤎 by @mariasantos.x

With the weather getting colder in London, we’ve been craving some good, comforting food!! We visited Georgia in January and fell in love with the country, so we couldn’t wait to find a little piece of it here in London. We might not have the mountains, but at least we can have the food 🇬🇪

@abarauk is just off Brick Lane, but as soon as you walk in, it feels like you could be miles away from London. It’s so homely, with the loveliest staff and food that feels like a big warm hug!!

If you’re planning a Sunday at Brick Lane Market, save this one for afterwards! 💌 Spend the morning browsing the vintage stalls and little shops, then head here for a cosy Georgian feast before going home to get comfy on the sofa. One of my favourite ways to spend an autumn Sunday in London. 🍂🤎

Last week we had dinner in the woods, and it was one of the most magical experiences we’ve had to date.

This is a beautifully curated dinner by @melwinebrown at @browningbros & @teybrookfarm. We wandered the 20 acres of woodland and had the most delicious flambéed garlic prawns before finding our seat in the fairytale-like setting.

With wood-fire at the heart of it all, we got cosy with a glass of wine, and as fire normally does… it made us open up. Within a couple of hours, we went from being seated next to complete strangers to feeling like we connected and shared stories with people we would never have met if it wasn’t for this experience.

And then there was the whopping 5-course dinner (6 if we count the amazing Mini Hokey Pokey Bombe Alaska)… all of it surrounded by trees, with soft music playing in the background, before we eventually moved over to the bar and were rewarded with live folk music.

We finished off our drinks while listening to the music and slowly got ready to join the real world… it did feel like we were in our little bubble and disconnected from it all for a few hours.

5 really, really cool mushroom facts I learnt recently!! 🍄

🍄‍🟫 The mushroom we see is actually just the visible, fruiting part of a much larger fungus. Most of it can be hidden underground as a network of tiny threads called mycelium.

🌲Scientists are still discovering completely new fungi in the UK. In 2024, Kew scientists helped describe three new species of tooth fungus found in British woodlands, including one near Windsor. They have tiny “teeth” underneath their caps instead of the familiar mushroom gills.

✨ Some mushrooms can actually glow in the dark! More than 100 species of fungi are known to be bioluminescent, and some fungi can even make rotting wood glow.

🌳 Some fungi form partnerships with trees underground. Their networks can help trees access water and nutrients, while the trees provide the fungi with carbon made through photosynthesis.

🪰 Some mushrooms have evolved to smell absolutely horrific to attract flies and other insects. The insects pick up the mushroom’s spores and carry them somewhere new, helping the fungus reproduce.
