Our tiniest baby turned 17 today. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that he will be a senior next year. 😩 We love you and are proud of all you have done so far Adam. First day of school pics 2026-27.

We are down to the last Cadenas boys and they are at the same school again.

How did Agustin make it to high school already?! 😩

Adam is a junior and already irritated without even stepping foot on campus. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Unplanned trip to help our @cadenas.sofia with some car trouble. I wasn’t mad about getting to hug her.

Did some sight seeing. Ate some food. Missed getting a Cuban Coffee, but there will be next time, #SiDiosQuiere

20 years is a long dang time to be married to one person. As we have continued on this journey, I may have questioned my life choices a time or once 😉

I am even more convinced that marriage isn’t about loving someone enough. As our kids have gotten older, I feel that marriage is more about glorifying God through it all, and caring for the children we have been blessed with the privilege of raising. You never know who you might be raising, so make the most of it. 💕

So here are some recent pictures of the whole family together from our Fourth of July trip to the river, @cadenas.sofia visiting and getting some of her favorite things (until NOVEMBER! 😩), @adamc09fn cutting all his hair off and making me cry, the encouragement I received from my children, as I started a new position at work, and ending with a few cute photos of the happy couple at our quick road trip to the southern border.

Thanks babe for always getting me what I want, even though you tried to make me feel crazy when I ordered extra food at @gaonasmexicanbite in Eagle Pass. (It was the sooo good, y’all. I felt like I was back in Robstown at my uncle David’s house for the summer.)

That’s a wrap for our 2026 Bass Fishing Season. We are so proud of these boys for finishing in 26th at STATE yesterday. Thank you Captain GW for caring for our Adam and all the work you put in to getting these boys on the water.

@cadenas.abel graduated from @texastech with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering yesterday. Lubbock was good to our baby boy. Thank you family who made the drive out to the Panhandle to watch him walk the stage. Your support means so much. Thank you to friends and family who tuned in online to watch and celebrate with us.

It is difficult to put into words the amount of pride we have for his accomplishments. This young man, who decided in the second semester of his senior year of high school to apply to Tech “because if other people I know have applied and got in, why can’t I?” So he did, then applied for a full-ride scholarship with the Sherwoods. Won that, and the rest is history.

He worked part time at @heb while taking full course loads, making all As and one B. This little boy who used to get in trouble for making inventions and paper airplanes in elementary and middle school classes instead of listening to the teacher teach a third way to solve a math problem. “Mom. I got it the first time. Why do I need to keep listening to other ways to solve the same problem?”

Me: “I’ll talk to her.”

Yesterday, he graduated with his degree and secured a well paying job in Austin with a local Commercial Construction company. His brain opened the doors, and his dedication, grit, and the Lord finished the job.

So, congratulations to our sweet boy. You did so well staying focused, embracing being “a poor and starving” college student, and understanding the importance of delayed gratification and graduating debt-free. Now we get to watch you continue to grow and flourish into adulthood.

We are so proud of you, and we love you, to infinity and beyond. ❤️🖤🚀

For the last 6 years I have attempted to psych myself up before Mother’s Day. Ever since my mom passed away, I find myself wanting to enjoy the calls and hugs from my kids, but in the back of my mind and heart, the dull ache is still there of not having my own mom here anymore. It’s such a weird feeling y’all. The silver lining is that I get to truly soak in all the moments with my kids because one day they will be here without me, and I want to make sure I’ve done my best to be the mom they deserve.

I encourage them to fly, take chances, feel the pain and work through hard things. I try to tell them that it’s okay when things don’t go as originally planned, and if you give the situation to God, He’ll help you make it through. I find that with every moment I’m able to joke with them, wrestle with them, record a hole in one, cheer on a soccer moment, text a “yayyyy!!” and “I’m so proud of you!”, I heal a little bit of my own broken heart.

Thank you mom for showing me what courage looks like. Watching you do hard things helped me to see they were possible. I just added a little extra love and positive encouragement to make it mine, and your grandchildren reap the benefits of the path you carved out for us.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers and aunties and besties that pour into the lives of others. Your kindness and encouragement don’t go unnoticed. I hope you all had a wonderful day and felt the love today. 💕

Broke for Spring.

Enjoyed having all my babes in one place, even if it was just for a couple of days. Thank you Lord for the beach and sunshine and waves and not drowning and working things out when the plan doesn’t go as planned.
