In a nutshell, the movie is about a scrappy team of top U.S. cheesemongers, led by coach Adam Moskowitz, preparing for and competing in the international @mondialfromagetours in France for the title of Best Cheesemonger in the World.

It is also a story about finding your place in the world, community and redemption. It is surprisingly moving and tender and you don’t have to be obsessed with cheese to enjoy this film. Highly recommend it and it can be streamed on Apple TV and Amazon Prime (and keep an eye out for a special screening at a theater near you).

They were in town last night to discuss the new @ottolenghi cookbook “Simple Too”, featuring easy to prepare recipes that are packed with flavor, using accessible ingredients. Simple - but not plain! I’m going to check out that baked Camembert recipe ASAP… And p.s. - there are several useful and FREE demo videos to go with this book on Youtube.

Wrapping Up Summer 2026 👋 I hate to waste food. And I am in constant motion to preserve - food cooked for more than needed, remnants of a meal bigger than my appetite, scraps of this and bones from that to make stock, rescuing fruits and veggies purchased during a virtue shop at the farmer’s market but then forgotten in the bottom drawer of the fridge - you all know what I’m talking about.

Cheese! Last night I met up with the fierce and wonderful @suozzipaula for a long overdue catch-up over some cheese and wine at the new @pickandcheese.usa NYC. Fabulous!

It’s located on Fifth Ave., not far from the NY Public Library. Enter Shaver Food Hall and grab a seat at the Pick & Cheese counter. A friendly and fun server will hand you a menu and a pencil,
explain the system, take your drink order and let the games begin. Numbered and color coded plated wedges of cheese with interesting pairings roll on by and you grab the one that speaks to you. You check off the cheese on the menu as you go along and stop when you’ve hit your cheese wall. It can turn into an “eyes bigger than stomach” sitch if you’re not careful!

GO HERE - They support small USA artisanal cheese producers. This is a big deal and important. They featured some cheeses that were new to me and a couple of pairings were amazing. In order of appearance:

* Hootenanny a goat milk gouda from Goat Rodeo Farm & Dairy (PA), pared w/Maple Popcorn
🧀
* Pipe Dreams Buche, a goat milk log from Pipe Dreams Fromage (PA), paired with shortbread and rosemary honey. LOVED THIS ONE.
🧀
* Jakes Aged Gouda from Jakes Gouda (NY), paired with a maple fudge. WINNER - my favorite pairing. Wow!

* Caspian from Jasper Hill Farm (VT), paired with pear mostarda. We smashed this one. Gorgeous pairing.

* Shepherd’s Hope, a sheep milk cheese from Shepherds Way Farm (MN) paired with a pea, mint and scallion pesto (note - if they scaled back on the scallion this pairing would have been perfection. But is was good.)

* Oma from Von Trapp Farmstead (VT), a funky washed rinder paired with spiced peanuts. So delicious.

On The Plate: (top) - Occhio di Puglia - a new to me Italian cow’s milk cheese that tastes like if Swiss cheese and provolone had a baby 🔥Rosette de Lyon, an amazing French-style pork salami made in…Hackensack, NJ! by @salumeriabiellese 🔥(next) the perfect grilled cheese-cheese from @eatnewschool 🔥 rounding it out with a nice ripe and slightly funky Brie Fermier from France. Future Girl Dinner sorted!

New Jersey Cheese! This is Drumm from @bobolinkdairyandbakehouse based in Milford, NJ - I picked this up @ironboundfarmmarket in Montclair, NJ

Drumm is a raw, grass fed cow’s milk cheese and 2025 World Cheese Awards “Supergold” winner! Go Jersey - baby, we were born to cheese.
🙌 🧀 💕
A natural rind cheese that starts out with a crumbly texture and a fresh, grassy, tangy and earthy taste. As it ages a bit, the texture becomes more fudgy with a concentrated taste that leans more mushroom-earthy closer to the rind. You’re going to want to pair this with crunchy bread and apples and wash it down with a dry hard cider, a crispy lager or that ice cold prosecco you brought to the pool party.
