I had the absolute pleasure of being one of the djay’s for the Detroit Free Press Marathon @freepmarathon for the 4th time and per usual it was an amazing time! This year was extra special because my friend @cmci212 was in town to do the marathon AND my friends and family pulled up to cheer on the runners. Every year I’m so happy that I can play music to encourage those amazing runners. These folks train for such a long time and a simple gesture of playing music or clapping for them as they run by goes such a long way.

Shout out to all the amazing runners especially @cmci212 and @djclevelandbrowne !! Y’all did that and should be soooo proud of yourselves!

Next year I hope more folks can join me to show love to these hardworking people!

Finally made it across the Gordie Howe Pedestrian bridge that connects Detroit to Windsor, Canada! Love the architecture and the views. When I lived in NYC I loved crossing the BK bridge. So happy Detroit finally has one 🩷#gordiehowebridge #pedestrianbridge #detroit #canada taken in Gordie Howe International Bridge by @marilynfgriffin

It’s been raining all day. I love it so much. Autumn or almost. The crispness of the air, leaves are about to turn. The quiet, oh the quiet. The rainy days and nights. The witchiness vibe. The changing of nature. It’s all so wonderful. I know summer is everyone’s favorite time of the year but this right here? Unmatched. Totally unmatched. #fall #autumn taken in Detroit, Michigan by @marilynfgriffin

Y’all! What a busy, but fun filled, exhausting but enriching, stressful yet full of growth 2026 season has been! So far this season we’ve had:
10 markets
40 vendors
12 workshops/activities
10 meditation classes
7 yoga classes
2 boxing for beginners classes
1 afro beat fitness class
18 3 x 30’ rows of flowers in the Flower Farm
5 Chapters in the Garden
Annual Art in the Garden art exhibition
Garden Tea Party
7 Flower U-Picks
2nd year doing a Flower Subscription
Interviewed by the Detroit Free Press

AND meeting so many amazing people like you this year or seeing you return to the garden. Thank you to every single person that participated in some way to Griffin Gardens this season. I appreciate you all so much from the bottom of my heart….

BUT the season isn’t quite over just yet because THIS Saturday, September 12th from 6-10 pm we are celebrating the season with our 6th annual “Almost End of Summer Garden Dance Party & Fundraiser”! This party is a way to gather at the garden and celebrate the season but also raise money for the garden. There will be a number of ways to support the garden: Donating money through the QR codes around the garden, buy merch and our latest tie dye tee( that I’m wearing), purchase drinks from the bar, or purchase a 2027 flower subscription. If you are not local but still want to support you can still buy merch or donate through our “support” tab.

And if you are unable to give we’d still love for you to come out and celebrate with us. It’s always a good time. Tunes will be played by myself, @djclevelandbrowne, and the homie DJ Francis coming from Brooklyn! Plus we’ll have food by @oscar_detroit_hotdogs and @ayitispaghetti . So excited and I can’t wait to see y’all.

Lastly, we are in need of 3-4 more volunteers for the party. You do NOT have to volunteer the entire time though. If interested please click the link in my bio to sign up and thank you in advance!

Yesterday I got to watch a screening of the short documentary “The Bridge” directed by @uncommonheights about the legacy of Mr. Michael Wilson and it was amazing! I had the pleasure of being a tutor at Woodbridge Community Youth Center’s after school program that he and his wife, Mrs. Wilson @mewilsonphotography founded. It was to fulfill required volunteer hours for grad school but what an experience it was. It honestly gave me my first hands on experience in working with kids and I am so grateful to have been placed there because what amazing people the Wilsons are! I was inspired then and I am inspired now by the impact that Mr. Wilson as had in the community in terms of baseball and pouring into Detroits youth and the wheels have been constantly turning in my head, what caused the decline of baseball in Detroit? What caused the powers that be to focus more on football and basketball? How do we pour into kids that are interested in baseball in the city and continue the legacy that Detroit has? I dunno, I do so much already but these are questions that I have been pondering and will continue to ponder in the years to come. If you get the chance check out The Bridge, it’s super inspiring and worth the watch! I know I’m inspired for sure 🙏🏾 taken in The Congregation by @marilynfgriffin
