šŸŽ—ļøJust because thereā€™s cancer doesnā€™t mean there canā€™t be JOYšŸŽ—ļø Itā€™s been one year since Jett was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. One year of chemo, one year of medications, one year of procedures, one year of port accesses, one year of constant hospital visits & stays, one year of learning, & one year of fighting. And the craziest part is we arenā€™t even close to being done. Weā€™re not even a year in to a 2.5 year treatment protocol. And so right now, we are still very much in the trenches. But in this season, thereā€™s something that I am learning about the trenches ā€” God is there too. And joy is there too. And that doesnā€™t mean itā€™s not hard, and that doesnā€™t mean that thereā€™s never deep pain or grief ā€” but it does mean that thereā€™s a constant hope. It really is the paradox of Christianity ā€” that we can walk through the hardest, most painful, most heartbreaking trials and YET, at the exact same time, we can experience the most genuine hope & joy in Christ. Because we know that Heā€™s with us, and working for our good, and revealing Himself to us in the midst of it. This year Iā€™ve learned that there really is this inexplicable joy that can only come from seeing Him in the midst of deep pain and suffering. And when I look at my family, all I can see is that joy. I am so insanely grateful that my sweet friend @sarahashleyphotography captured these pictures of our family in the midst of Jettā€™s treatment. Because whenever I look back on this season years from now, I wanna remember that there was joy too. That in the midst of all the hard, there really was a deep, undeniable joy that only couldā€™ve come from Christ. This year wasnā€™t a guarantee. And it definitely wasnā€™t owed to us. But we are so grateful to God for every minute that weā€™ve gotten with our sweet Fighter Jett. We are so proud of you, sweet boyšŸ’› by @marinblack17

Back in November, Michael preached a message on seeing Christ rightly and seeing His rule & reign right now. As he read through Revelation 19, I sat in my seat convicted ā€” recognizing that I had NOT been seeing Christ rightly, but I wanted to. I decided to read Revelation 19 every day that week ā€” knowing that only the Scripture could adjust my view of Christ ā€” that only the Scripture could allow me to see Him rightly in His rule & reign and to see Him rightly in His full resurrection power. And as I read Revelation 19, the Lord starting giving me words to write down. And I didnā€™t know it at the time, but it was verse 3 of the song. Then through the month of December, as I studied Christ throughout the entirety of the Word, He gave me more and more passages to dissect & more lyrics to write down. And at that point, I was able to see the fullness of the song that He had given me. In January, Michael & I took it to DonTreā€™ ā€” FULLY expecting Him to take one look at me & my lyrics and to say that we needed to have someone else rap & record it. But he didnā€™t. He looked at me and said, ā€œItā€™s gotta be you. Itā€™s gotta be your voice.ā€ And as terrified as I was, I knew in my heart that I needed to try. Even if I failed. Even if I looked ridiculous. Even if it confused people. Even if I got to the end of it and we decided that someone else needed to record it ā€” The Lord was asking me to try. And so I did. And after several months of working with @dontre.murphy413 , Gabe, and @kendrickoakley ā€” some of the most GIFTED artists Iā€™ve ever met in my life ā€” weā€™re here. And itā€™s finished. And itā€™s released on all platforms. And so today, I want to share it with you. Not because I think itā€™ll ever amount to anything, not because Iā€™m trying to become something, not because I think Iā€™m a real rapper ā€” but because the Scriptures in this song have given me a deeper revelation of Christ than Iā€™ve ever had before. And Iā€™m praying that as you listen, the Word of God will do the same thing for you.
