A few things I loved from @imprintartfair.

One of my favourite booths @bainbridgeprint - I wanted to everything home! And it was lovely to meet both @lbainbridgeprint & @jo_de_pear.

Earlier this week, I went to the private view of the British Art Prize, a fantastic exhibition by @aandimagazine, whom we partner with at @parkerharrisco.

There were so many incredible works - and it was so busy, I didn’t get the chance to capture them all.

(Unlike Pokémon, you can’t catch em all, I guess)

Anyway, here are just a few that caught my eye… 👀

To all those who entered the British Art Prize, got shortlisted, and/or went on to win an award… BRAVO! The standard of work was really, really high 👏

And, to anyone else… go visit the show! It’s on at @oxotowerwharf until tomorrow, Sunday 25 October.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of visiting artist Priscilla Watkins’ studio (@phthaloturquoisstudio) 🌊🏊‍♀️

As someone who loves beautiful paintings… and a good swim… you can see why I’d fall head first for her work.

Her paintings and prints capture the feeling of swimming - the changing, shimmering light; the suspended bodies; the release of worries and anxieties that come with being immersed in water.

I’ll let you scroll through and discover her work - plus a few glimpses at her process, and quotes that stayed with me after I left.

(Also I may have taken a couple of paintings home 👀)

Thanks @phthaloturquoisstudio for having me 💙 by @marine.costello

Do artists really need to have gallery representation to get into private collections, corporate collections or an art advisor's radar?

(If you want our step-by-step guide to getting into galleries, comment "GALLERIES" and we'll send you the link.)

We asked art advisor Julia Rosenbaum this question, and this is what she told us during our live session on The Art Ladder...

If getting into a gallery is something you've thought about, or tried without success, we created Get Your Art Into Galleries to take you through the 5 steps:

1️⃣ Knowing why you want a gallery
2️⃣ Finding the right gallery for your work
3️⃣ Understanding what galleries look for
4️⃣ Approaching galleries professionally
5️⃣ Navigating the gallery relationship

It's built on our 35 years in the art world, and it's available for only £19.

Here are a few things I saw at Frieze.

For 4 days, @friezeofficial feels like the centre of the London art world.

It creates a particular place and time called ‘Frieze week’ and we all mark it in our calendars.

Everything else - art fairs, exhibitions, events - is just happening around it.

It’s where people in the art world go to see… and, to a large extent, be seen 👀

I’m sure I’m not the only one who leaves feeling like I saw so much, I practically can’t take any more in, and I can’t quite remember what it is that I’ve seen.

But it’s also a great opportunity to discover new works, to see familiar names, and to get a sense of what’s happening in contemporary art - what artists are making, what people are talking about, what’s selling…

It’s also a chance to catch up. With colleagues, friends, and what’s happening in the world and on the walls of galleries.

So, amongst the business and the bustle, here are a few things that caught my eye.

Some of them drew my attention because of their scale, their vibrancy or their subject…

Think, “oooh that’s big and colourful” or “oh, look! A dog” 👀

Don’t we all do it? Or is it just me?

Others made me smile or think of idiosyncrasies - memories, images and associations that probably only make sense to me.

I particularly liked works that felt like they were revealing themselves in layers… those that weren’t quite what they seemed from afar.

I’m sure if I went tomorrow, I’d notice completely different works. And I’m sure there are far more “talked about” works I haven’t captured here.

So, anyway… what about you? Did you go to Frieze / do you plan on going? Did you see anything memorable?
