I've had the enormous privilege of getting close to an incredible community organizer and their kid over the last year. Every day they give so much to their community and have brought so much joy to my life.

And they do this living in fear of ICE every single day. Groceries, school, work — nothing is safe. And with a custody struggle at the center of this and domestic violence in their history, the stakes are even higher.

Now it's time for us to show up for them!

It's been truly beautiful to see all these people come forward with lovingly crafted items and services for auction. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! This is what mutual aid looks like!!

All proceeds of the auction go toward helping my friend fight a legal battle to keep them and their child together and create more calm and stability in their life.

Please take a look at the items here and at the link in my bio. Many items are Portland, OR specific, but not all!

The time before

Today the wind was strong enough to break
the branches of the gingko—how easily
they fell for how long they had been
growing—the tree more than a hundred
years old & part of the oldest species
on earth; gingkos existed before flowers—
can you imagine? How lonely, a world pre-
jasmine on the back fence, scenting
the air after rain, pre-hollyhock dolls, how
a bud and a flower became a girl in the hand
of my grandfather. What would we give
to each other to say thank you or you’re just
as beautiful or well done! I hate to even
picture it, but I know that now, like
in the time before flowers, there must be
some beauty coming so dear and wild
I can’t imagine how I lived without it.

es imposible describir el impacto de estos cuatro meses en argentina. acá hay algunas de mis momentos, personas, y lugares favoritos de buenos aires :)
