My modification of the 60511 vintage steam train. The set itself, I think, is pretty nice already. My kid had fun playing with it, but the tender is a bit small and I wanted it to run without it on circuit cubes.

So I spent some evenings modifying it. At first, I tried it with only parts of the set. I could not get it as I wanted, so I added a bit from my own collection.

I had hopes of getting the small hub of circuit cubes into the tank. This can be done, but charging it and turning it on/off will be a hassle. Since my kid also plays with the trains, I decided to put the hub in the cab and put a bunker at the back to 'hide' it. The driver is now 'legless' and sort of blocks view of the hub. I put the motor in between the wheels and put on darker pins vs the tan.

After visiting our local train museum, I also made some general look changes, made the front completely red, and put in an old 12v magnet. I increased the tank, still partly in doubt on this because I like the gold bar on the set, but this feels a bit better. But I am no train expert, so do not shoot me ;). I added a tank cap for refills. I also raised the tank as it was lower, which I never saw on a steam train. The dome I hope to make gold once I find that piece in my collection, I know it is somewhere. The chimney I liked it, but I also like this smaller design. I tried finding a better connection, though, but no avail yet in my parts collection. The smoke box door is pulled forward. It is all pretty basic, but you need some dark green parts. by @maris_peter

You know you're procrastinating when your kid tells you to get the tracks back in one piece again 🤣.

So I decided to start at the left and get on with it. I reshaped the harbour/water area a bit to include a dock and opposite a section of residential buildings. Most likely to become Amsterdam style houses. I had that concept on the old table and reused old pieces.

I also pulled in two of my favourite modular, well actually I wanted the hotel, but my kid claimed it.
I opened up some more space for custom buildings and a more pronounced road section, which should lead to the trains.

The railway bridge is nearly restored. Mostly inspired by our local bridge this time. And I put some effort on the farm area, though I need more pieces.

Right now, I need to fix the last MILS, and then I can relay the loop on its jumpers and tiles. The far right will be the industrial area and train yard and will stay empty for a while. Finishing off just this is already taking months 🫣.

I found an unknown lego set in the @spoorwegmuseum today 😉🤣.

'De koploper' and 'dubbeldekker' are on my to-do list for a build someday. But I have to say that the spoorwegmuseum provided beside all the fun with my kid also a lot of inspiration for future builds.

Some train models I knew, some completely new, like the 1100 series. And that colour, never knew NS had that house style.

But also stuff like the postwagon. We also saw the inside of one with the sorting tables. Nowadays they can not deliver a letter in a week, but in the glory days....

That tanker of the state mines will definitely be built. Just need to figure out how to build a tank. And that double sphere was fun to see after my interpretation of the old #lego7813 that a double sphere actually existed. But I may need to make some modifications 🤔.

@the_naughtydog Ethiopian natural. Special edition.

Is it special? Well not mind blowing like: boom boom shake the room. But a very elegant and tasty coffee.

Fruity flavours, flower aroma and a nice body. Definitely one you can brew a bit coarser in a kono, but also works a bit finer in an origami brewer. by @maris_peter

It is been a while since I had a coffee from Rwanda. This natural red bourbon roasted by @manhattancoffeeroasters was a nice comeback.

Sweet cup, some odd fruit I could not place and a nice aroma. Sad to see it was only a 125gr bag. by @maris_peter

And to prove it runs some nice Lego train videos of the modified vintage steam train and a section of my new train layout.

I did have to replace the pins on the second drive wheel. It kept jamming, so I put an axle through it, though it is not powered.

The latest Lego train sets like the vintage steam train #lego60511 are great sets. They miss the powerup system, but then that also makes them more affordable.

But a train needs to run. Though Lego suggests powering the tender, I wanted to use the circuit cube and also update the locomotive.

I tried to use only parts from the set, but it did not yield the results I wanted. So I am mocking it up a bit and need an order for some dark green of which I have very little.

Step by step I am getting there. I adjusted the nose height a bit and found some different slope pieces in my collection that could work.

The door bars also changed to be a bit more flush with the body and the door window dropped to be inline with the original design.

Now it is time to rework the stripe design along the side of the train.

Next in line from Ecuador. @fincasoledadintag Pepe Jijon washed Sidra.

A sweet cup of coffee, with some fresh sharpness, bit juicy and a nice aroma. This is 125gr I will not be sharing 🤣.

A blend of Ethiopian and 2x different Colombian coffee which you see more often, but this one delivers a funky outcome I never had in a blend before. The processing of the coffees definitely caused this and i can understand now how the coffee got its name. Sweet, going on candylike sweet with a similar fragrance. by @maris_peter

My annual purchase of coffee from Ecuador. Father and son duo @fincasoledadintag and @coffee_with_jose always produce something I like.

This is the washed mejorado from Jose. Very pleasant coffee. But I did have to grind this year's harvest a bit coarser than last year. Run it through a slower filter paper and then 😋🤩.

Nice fruit flavours and hint of flowers.

Worked on the tunnel exit at the edge of the city. I was surprised how high it had to be to clear the trains.

In due time a row of houses will hide the train track and give the impression of the train going in a deep tunnel.

The houses will be pretty narrow, 4 or 8 studs max. What will be on top of the tunnel is still to be defined. Any ideas? Let me know.
