Charlotte is growing, but growth only matters if people can move forward with it. New businesses, jobs, and investment create opportunity, while economic mobility helps people gain skills, build careers, start businesses, and create more choices over time. As County Commissioner, I’m focused on how public investments can connect more Mecklenburg County residents to that progress. Who gets Mecklenburg County’s $25.53-an-hour minimum wage?

It applies to full-time County employees, not every job in Charlotte. While the county doesn’t have the power to change minimum wage for everyone, we can start with our county employees. I believe the people serving our community deserve pay that helps them cover their own bills, too.

Economic opportunity has to reach the communities that have been overlooked for too long. Project Rising invests in people, strengthens neighborhoods, and creates real pathways for residents and small businesses to grow right here in Mecklenburg County. That’s the work I’ll keep pushing forward.
