I had the most magical afternoon, celebrating @veldandsea 10 year anniversary. We enjoyed freshly foraged meals, created our own delicious fynbos infused G&T's, made flower crowns from flowers foraged in the garden, and had amazing conversations. I also got a deep dive into what @veldandseaco_op has in store in the coming months, and it's very exciting! Last week's After Dark at the @2oceansaquarium focused on the quiet moments, with @petrolstationpies and @freddylband treating us to stripped down sets of their usual unbridled energies onstage.

Big love to @mark_fitzy for keeping us informed, @jagermeistersouthafrica for keeping the drinks flowing, @audiopimps for making sure everything sounded crystal, and everyone else who came through and made the night what it was.

What a way to dive headfirst into this season of After Dark! Our first edition of the year at @2oceansaquarium was thoroughly enchanting.

We were mesmerised by the siren song of @akeeda.music who even treated us to some new material. Lucky fish we are. Then we rolled with the waves of @porcelainmoon__’s dazzling synthpop, brought gloriously to life with a full band. Big thank you to the best MC to do it, @mark_fitzy and to @jagermeistersouthafrica for keeping the night fresh.

Hermit crabs are wearing our plastic rubbish! Published in Science of the Total, scientists were heartbroken to see the extent to which these marine life were taking to using our rubbish instead of natural shells, as waste is becoming more common.

How can we help? Join a beach clean up, decrease the use of single use plastics, and tell people to do the same! by @mark_fitzy

I am absolutely privileged to share my passion for ocean conservation with all the people I meet.

As a course instructor and researcher at Cape RADD, I teach, do field research, and guide both locals and tourists into the Great African Sea Forest.

Conservation starts with a deep understanding and love for the environment. I am grateful I get to introduce marine science to so many people. Both students and interested parties.
