What a movie! Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. A queer filmmaker played by the always amazing Hannah Einbinder is hired to reboot a cheesy Friday the 13th-esque slasher series, and finds Gillian Anderson - star of the original film - living in the abandoned camp where it was made. It’s weird, beautiful, funny, bloody and sexy. Available now on Mubi. Obsession finally has a rival for best movie of 2026. by @markedwardsauthor

Look at that shiny lettering! The foil! So Christmassy! The paperback of The Christmas Magpie is out on November 5th here in the UK. That’s an easy date to remember remember. You can pre-order yours from all the usual places. BTW, if you haven’t read the Magpies books, it works as a standalone. by @markedwardsauthor

Every author has their obsessions. Themes and tropes they return to again and again. Long-time readers know to expect all these in one of my books. Have I missed any?

If you’ve already read The Wasp Trap, I recommend One of the Family, Here To Stay or The Psychopath Next Door next. by @markedwardsauthor

A little hint to what my next book is about.

Limerence, an obsessive form of unreciprocated ‘love’, has just been added to the dictionary. I’ve spent the last year researching it and getting into the head of someone who is suffering from this all-consuming state. It’s a scary place to be - but not as scary as the stuff that happens in this book.

This is not just a crush. It’s a crush with claws and fangs.

The title and premise will be revealed very soon… But get ready for 2027’s most unhinged, twistiest and juiciest psychological thriller. by @markedwardsauthor

My job takes me to the most amazing, contrasting places. Thursday, Pentonville prison; today, Sandon House near Stafford for the Sandon Literary Festival, where I appeared on a very fun panel with Anna Bailey. What a place! I could see myself living here. Wouldn’t want to do the gardening though. by @markedwardsauthor

I never write ‘The End’ when I finish a book. After all, it’s not really the end. There will still be work to do. And it’s only the beginning really, because a book doesn’t come to life until people read it.

However, I’ve written myself a congratulatory message so I can enjoy this moment. It’s been hard, hard work at times. And considering all the stuff that’s been going on in my life this year it’s a miracle I got it done. But I honestly think this is my best book, with the biggest twist.

It’s about love. Obsession. Men and women. Limerence. And murder, of course. And yes, there’s a cat. But mostly, it’s about the terrible decisions people make when they’re in love.

All will be revealed very soon. For now, I’m going to enjoy the moment. I did it. Again! by @markedwardsauthor

Had a really fun day in London with my four best friends. First, an event at Pentonville Prison with a panel and writing competition. The writing talent on display was quite astonishing and the audience asked some of the best questions all of us had ever faced. Then we went on to karaoke at a bonkers 90s-themed bar called Bunga 90. The entrance looks like a branch of Blockbuster and you walk through a Pepsi vending machine to get to the bar and karaoke rooms. We, of course, booked Mark’s Room and it was so lovely to belt out Torn (a karaoke classic) and many others with my, ahem, funky bunch. Thank you to Caroline, Ed, Fiona and Susi for being awesome (I don’t really think of you as my funky bunch 😂). by @markedwardsauthor
