This Sunday, October 4th, Markham Museum is celebrating all the amazing educators who inspire and shape our community. Teachers and educators enjoy FREE admission including up to 4 guests to Markham Museum.

Stop by from 10 AM to 5 PM to explore our exhibitions, enjoy a guided tour of our historic buildings, and learn more about our educational programs.

Simply present your ID card or proof of working status at our front desk for entry!

Our new seasonal hours are:
Mon-Tues: Closed
Wed-Fri: 12 PM – 5 PM
Sat-Sun: 10 AM – 5 PM

Tour Times: 2 PM on weekdays, 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM on weekends.

Whether you’re exploring our historic grounds or discovering something new in our exhibitions, we can’t wait to welcome you.

Spooky season has arrived and we have some exciting news to share…

As our community has grown, ScaryFest has transformed into @pumpkinsafterdark_markham!

For the entire month of October, the Museum grounds will be glowing in the dark with incredible pumpkin displays, immersive installations, and festive Halloween fun at night. While Pumpkins After Dark is not organized or operated by Markham Museum, we’re thrilled to welcome this spectacular event to our site. It’s a new chapter that honours the spirit of Scaryfest and brings even more festive Halloween magic to our community.

We sincerely thank you for supporting Scaryfest over the years and making it a beloved tradition.

We can’t wait to see you at Pumpkins After Dark starting tomorrow night as we celebrate a new season of unforgettable memories together!

Try your hand at this traditional craft in a beginner-friendly workshop where you can learn the step-by-step process and weaving techniques used to create your own 8” x 8” square market basket using natural and hand-dyed reed.

We invite educators and students to join us in experiencing the powerful stories of Chinese Canadians with Standing in the Doorway—an immersive educational program at Markham Museum. 🇨🇳 🇨🇦

Discover the lived experiences, history, resilience, traditions, community, and contributions of Chinese Canadians in Markham and York Region, from the legacy of the Chinese Exclusion Act to the stories that continue today.

This program includes a pop-up experience of the award-winning "Standing in the Doorway: Lived Histories and Experiences of the Chinese Community" Exhibition

Visit the Mourning Exhibition "When the Willow Weeps: Victorian Funerary Practices" to uncover how Victorians in Newmarket and the surrounding areas navigated grief and how our relationship with death and mourning has profoundly changed.

The exhibition features four intricate hair wreaths from Markham Museum's collection along with a watch chain presumably made with intertwined horsehair among other materials.

See them on display and learn more at the Elman Campbell (Newmarket) Museum for a limited time until October 31, 2026!
