For the first time, @pumpkinsafterdark_markham has arrived at @markhammuseum , transforming the grounds into a glowing trail of more than 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins, incredible displays, and Halloween magic for all ages.

From creative pumpkin sculptures to live carving demonstrations and family-friendly fun, there’s plenty to discover after dark.

baby’s first kiln haul!

finally picked up 2 sessions worth of pottery after two months. i did a couple classes of hand building and then a couple classes of wheel throwing. i never did ceramics before this so i didn’t know what to expect ~ and i had no actual plans for my hand building class,, just went with vibes.

some of the things are flops but i put a couple of the pieces i actually liked (all the decent ones are from wheel throwing lol). i also need to figure out how to paint it better and not as streaky.

now that i acc know how it works i cant wait to go back and throw some pieces i actually like!

🎃👻 PUMPKIN AFTER DARK in Markham! 🎃✨

I was a little worried the kids were going to be scared, but honestly, it wasn’t bad at all! 😂 They had an absolute BLAST! 🧡

So many fun pumpkin displays and spooky Halloween vibes. We spent just over an hour walking around, taking it all in, and making memories! 🎃🍂

This was a fun graphic novel for middle grade readers that explores friendship, sibling relationships, and traveling and experiencing new places and cultures.

MIND VS. MACHINE by Steve Sheinkin and Maurice with art by Thien Pham [thank you Mac Kids Books for the gifted copy]

MIND VS. MACHINE is the graphic novel adaptation of the 1997 multi-game chess match between World champion Garry Kasparov and Deep Blue, a supercomputer developed by a team at IBM. It marks a turning point in human history and the rise of technology. It was a fascinating read that dives into the matches themselves, the history and stories on both sides of that chess board, and a relevant question to those learning about this match today as we see another turning point in human history with the rise of AI.

THE INHERITANCE GAMES is such a great young adult series and the conclusion feels satisfying and complete. absolutely enjoyed this series.

LIKE GLASS by Jen Ferguson [ thank you Frenzy Books for the gifted copy ]

LIKE GLASS is a heartfelt and heart wrenching novel about a young girl dealing with grief after her sister passes away. It is about the ways in which everyone grieves differently and how sometimes that can affect the relationships we have with others. I found the story to be so honest and open about all the themes and topics touched upon - from the labels we give people to family to discovering who you are despite everyone else thinking they know better.

I visited the new Markham location of @pumpkinsafterdark @pumpkinsafterdark_markham , and @markhammuseum was such a great choice! It was eerie without being scary and spaced out nicely.

We came across:
