This is worth seeing – the largest show of new work ever at the Guggenheim, and really interesting. Amazing artist Taryn Simon created an investigative report/story/artwork that digs deep into the story of Aldrich Ames, the CIA officer who turned into a Russian spy. She bought many of the personal artifacts of Ames and his family and created compelling compositions that really tell a compelling story of this complex case. The images are accompanied by stories but it helps to read about it first. I read an article in Harper’s Bazaar, by Stephen Mooallem, published online September 17, 2006. And, happy birthday Karen Kleber!!! by @markkochny

Great day at the Fast Company Innovation Festival! Honestly, my father, an “old school” cartoonist could have created a much more interesting caricature than this AI generated version. But it’s a learning process and much change is happening. And realistically AI is honestly a new species that can eliminate us all very shortly. Please listen to the people who have created it and have no idea how to stop it from taking over. We need to make responsible choices or be willing to have the human race go the way of dinosaurs very soon. by @markkochny

25 years ago, we watched from our penthouse office as the planes hit the World Trade Center and our city changed forever. Rather than leave NYC, we moved into a storefront where we could know our neighbors. Our team entered the 9/11 Memorial competition to create something together to turn our grief and anger into hope. May this anniversary remind us to choose compassion, healing, hope and peace. Today we are leaving the building we moved into because of 9/11. by @markkochny

A big move. As the season changes, the Monarch is ready for its journey to Mexico. After 24 years in our own building in Manhattan, home to our office, and so many amazing co-workers - and a special apartment for me and Julie, we’re moving! The office will now be a block away on 30th Street, and the new apartment is 3 blocks away. We’re not as adventurous as the Monarch butterfly, but we’re really excited about the change! by @markkochny

Mystery solved and a blast from the past!!! For the past 2 days I’ve been seeing hundreds of multi-colored balloons with odd appendages and some with wrist straps deflated on the streets near my place. They mysteriously showed up in the morning - as if part of an all night balloon fest! It turns out I’m close to Madison Square Garden and Metallica was playing! There apparently were street vendors selling balloons filled with nitros oxide - “whippets” to partiers looking for a “high” from high school! Oh, the memories came rushing back…whippit good! by @markkochny

Something amazing rose from the ocean and appeared over Fire Island tonight. We’re looking forward to celebrating Independence Day in the USA with hot dogs, hamburgers and fireworks, but somehow the Universe in its infinite beauty makes us realize that we’re only here for a flash, so let’s fill our flash with love, beauty, respect and kindness. by @markkochny

My amazing sister Karin shared this photo of the two of us and our father. We were so fortunate to have had him in our lives. Parents can give us so much more than just life. I’ve never had kids, but I appreciate the hard but beautiful work that my friends who are parents do to help their kids live their best life. A big thanks to the fathers today, on Father’s Day, especially Jack and Fred. Much love and respect. And many warm smiles and memories. by @markkochny

Spring is our time for regeneration and restoration. I have been shaving my head for so many years now, and when I do let it grow, like 2 weeks of rafting in Alaska without bathing or a mirror, I see it as salt and pepper, and think I look older than I feel, so I shave it off. But maybe I should consider the trendy Wistaria look? And it smells amazing!! Happy first weekend of summer to everyone! Much love and fun!! by @markkochny
