Totally obsessed with this passage.

Even after exploring all the movements this remains my favourite mini climax moment.

Pianos to be seen as well as heard 🎹
Markson Pianos brings music to Decorex 2026 with daily performances on the Kawai Crystal Grand at the Grand Hall entrance. Hear Camden Stewart, Teodor Doré and Karim Kamar bring this extraordinary transparent piano to life.

On Sunday 11 October at 10.20am, visit Markson Pianos at Stand G30 to meet Antoine Wagner, the artist behind Crescendo, a Steingraeber upright with laser-etched forest imagery. Camden Stewart will perform on the piano, bringing art, craftsmanship and music together.

5 tips: pianos as statement pieces ↓

1. Let it lead the palette.
Pick a colour or wood tone from the piano and use it as the starting point for the room’s textiles, artwork and finishes.
2. Give it a contrasting backdrop.
Glossy black against a warm, matte wall. Rich walnut against pale plaster. Think about texture as well as colour.
3. Give its shape some breathing room.
Keep a clear sightline to the piano and leave space around it so its silhouette stands out. Allow room for the bench and someone playing, too.
4. Echo one detail elsewhere.
Carry a touch of its colour into a cushion, or repeat the tone of its metalwork in a lamp. A few small connections help it feel part of the room.
5. Light it deliberately.
Soft, directional lighting can pick out wood grain, painted details or a mirrored finish—and give the piano presence in the evening.

Save this for your next interiors project.

What happens when music and painting are created in the same moment?

At Materiality Live, @teodordore and @jakeandrewart came together in a live exchange between sound and image — each responding to the other as the work unfolded.

Not simply a performance, but a shared act of creation: something taking shape in real time, in front of an audience.

Materiality Live, a project by No Place Art @noplaceart and Markson Pianos @markson.pianos , also marked the pre-opening night of the Renaissance-21 Festival.

We look forward to welcoming you to our events across London this October.

A few moments from Materiality Live — an exciting project by @noplaceart @markson.pianos @aschandbagfactory , bringing live music and visual art together in one space.

We were delighted that the first night of Materiality Live also became the pre-opening of this year’s Renaissance-21 Festival, bringing together @teodordore , performing his Les Reflets dorés, @jay.verma and @jakeandrewart , whose live painting unfolded throughout the evening.

There is something very special about experiencing art as it is being created — watching music and visual art respond to one another and allowing something entirely new to emerge in the moment.

Projects like this are also a reminder of how important collaboration is. Finding people who share a similar vision, curiosity and belief in what art can be — and creating something together — is at the heart of what Renaissance-21 is about.

A huge thank you to No Place Art and Markson Pianos for creating Materiality Live and for welcoming Renaissance-21 into this wonderful project, and to all the artists, collaborators and everyone who joined us for the evening @karim_kamar @camdenstewarts @rowansiddons

And this was only the beginning. The Renaissance-21 Festival continues across London this October, with concerts, conversations and special projects still to come.

Can't get enough of that opening.

First of many Tchaik concerto posts to come over the next few months. 🤞🏼

In a month, I'll be taking this onstage at Singapore's Victoria Concert Hall. October 24th, save the date. 🙃

We’re delighted to share the full programme for the Renaissance-21 Festival 2026.

From 22 September to 22 October, the Festival unfolds across London iconic venues, bringing together artists, musicians, curators and thinkers through a programme of live music, contemporary art and public conversations.

At its heart is a conversation between heritage and the present — exploring how cultural memory can become a living source for new work, and what authorship, craftsmanship and human imagination mean in an age increasingly shaped by technology and AI.

Across its music programme, the Festival turns a spotlight on Britain’s rarely heard musical heritage, bringing remarkable and long-overlooked works back to the stage.
