I don’t focus on walking again, but that doesn’t mean I’m not hopeful and it doesn’t mean I’m not moving forward! 🫶 Learning to walk again is an intensive process, and for some, it may never happen to the extent that they can walk full-time or without mobility aids or at all. And that’s okay! 🌈 Walking is a BIG upgrade for everyday tasks such as chores, navigating inaccessibility, reaching higher things like cabinets or closets, and changing clothes! But it doesn’t mean that it should be the goal for everyone, and it certainly doesn’t need to take priority over going for what we want to do with our full and vibrant lives. ♥️ Not walking is okay. Not being completely focused on it is also okay. Live your life. 🥰 🌷#disabledcreator #motivation #disabilityadvocacy #disabledcommunity #fulltimewheelchairuser by @marleytimko

To new wheelchair users… 💌Today is International Wheelchair Day! ❤️‍🔥♿️It may not feel like an occasion to celebrate, and you certainly don’t have to. I’ve been a full-time wheelchair user for three years, so I’d like to observe today by sharing some tidbits of what I would love to tell myself at the beginning of my journey. 🫶1. Your disability will not stop you from trying new things! The things you have access to or get to try may change, but one of the beautiful things about life is that we are always moving closer to finding a new favorite thing, or going to a new favorite place. You will still have the option to get out there and try something new! 🫂❤️‍🔥2. There is no “right” way to feel about it 🐛You can continue to be happy, you can grieve, you can be angry. There isn’t a formula to dealing with what we go through as wheelchair users, so feel your feelings and know that it’s enough! Being a wheelchair user is a feature of who we are, not a definition. 💫3. Be kind to yourself and own this part of your story! 🩵Initially, I struggled to accept that there were now two versions of me: before and after. Knowing that I am the one who lived through both and accepting both parts of me with equal weight was how I eventually owned up to who I am completely! 🪽4. What happened to us is not as important as what’s next. 🐦‍🔥Embrace all that you feel about it and all that you are and watch the world open up to you! This is a part of your story, not an ending.❤️‍🔥Thank you for reading! It feels odd to say “Happy International Wheelchair Day” with all of its bittersweetness, but I’ll say it anyway: Happy International Wheelchair Day. 🐦‍🔥❤️‍🔥♿️#fulltimewheelchairuser #internationalwheelchairday #bodyneutrality #positivity #disabledcreators by @marleytimko

💛This took forever to make but I think it was worth it :,) 💛I get questions along the line of “How/why do you still dance?” And even though I have big feelings about it, I think the answer is simple. It’s hard for me to imagine a life completely cut off from doing what I love: dancing. 💗 💛: (for reach) #ehlersdanlossyndrome #wheelchairuser #discoverunder20k #chronicillness #disabled #dancetrending #fallinloveagainandagain #bodyneutrality #dance by @marleytimko

WOW! It’s been three years already! 🥹I was going through my old videos and realized most of my camera roll is now me as a wheelchair user and that’s kinda crazy! Thank you for coming along with me on this ride; I’m still a baby wheelchair user and I have so much more to learn but I’m SO grateful for the community I get to be a part of ♿️💙#fulltimewheelchairuser #disabledcreators #parafencing #wheelchairdancer #bodyneutrality by @marleytimko

✨ THANK GOD I’M POPPIN’ SPOTLIGHT: Meet Marley Timko (@marleytimko) 💛 Marley is a dancer, parafencer, content creator, and full-time wheelchair user whose joy is every bit as contagious as her resilience. Living with Spina Bifida, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and an autoimmune disease, she continues to move through life with kindness, authenticity, and an unwavering sense of purpose. Our conversation was packed with reminders I needed to hear: ✨ “My joy and worth don’t ever come from what I contribute or what I’m able to do.” ✨ She celebrated completing an entire handwritten journal after retraining her handwriting when her autoimmune disease affected her dexterity. ✨ She stretches every day as an act of gratitude for a body that has “fought hard to stay alive.” ✨ Her wellness mantra is beautifully simple: “Be yourself and be kind.” ✨ She credits the love and acceptance of her friends with reminding her that she’s worthy exactly as she is. As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, Marley’s story is a powerful reminder that disability deserves to be seen, valued, and celebrated. Her life reflects resilience, joy, community, and the freedom to define success on her own terms. ♿💖 Go show Marley some love, give her a follow, and read her full Thank God I’m Poppin’ Spotlight. I didn’t have a pen and paper… but I keep finding myself doing fencing AND dance: that is to say, dancing while I’m fencing and fencing while I dance!#fulltimewheelchairuser #parafencing #rollettesdance #usaparafencing #parasports by @marleytimko

Well-fitted mobility aids make ALL the difference (and saved me tbh!) One year ago, the wheelchair that I use full-time now was delivered to me! I paid for it out of pocket, and all features that I chose were intentional + have since made my mobility so much less taxing. For starters, the seat width comes in at 14” versus the 16” wheelchair I had before (the ATP who measured me did this thinking I would gain much more weight than I did with a sedentary lifestyle). The frame is titanium and the wheels it has provide suspension and agility! Mobility is a privilege, but it shouldn’t be. Access to a proper mobility aid changed my life and I’d like to work towards a future where proper mobility is available to ALLWheelchair frame: @permobilamericas Backrest: @invacareusa Wheels: @spinergywheels Cushion: Stimulite Sport #disabledcreators #fulltimewheelchairuser #disableddancer #mobilityaids #chronicillness by @marleytimko
