2 months agoGosh I’m so thankful to know you! You help me strive to grow into a better person and advocate!
2 months agoOne of my doctors said to me, "Imagine what you would have accomplished in your life if you weren't disabled." So rude.
2 months agoI love this so much!! I feel very similarly with conversations that center "cures" and chronic illness "healing" like being told to imagine or pray for a future where I'm not chronically ill. Acceptance has helped me soo much to feel like a full and complete person as I exist right now 🖤
2 months agoThank you for sharing! I’m not disabled myself, but my daughter uses a wheelchair. She was born with a brain injury and we quickly learned her she’d be disabled. It’s funny, the first thing I mourned was that she wouldn’t walk. Now almost 6 years later I never think of it! It’s amazing how walking is held in this high regard for “quality of life” when in reality there are SO many others that are so much better and more important!
2 months agoThank you for this!!. It always hurts so much when people are so focused on this. I do so many cool things and if I focused on walking thats all I would be able to do. Wouldn't see my friends, wouldn't make music, would have to drop out of school. Not my life goal! Would love to be able to do it, but will not throw everything away for it!
