Just went to see the Whistler exhibition at Tate Britain. It’s fabulous. Some time ago, I made my own little sculptural tribute to Whistler, and included him in my Cats in Art series, celebrating great artists, dreadful puns and of course cats! This is “Whisker’s Mother” (ouch!). Swipe to see Whistler’s Mother at the Tate @tatebritain Clearly this famous painting has a monochromatic and musical tonality that I could only dream of, but on the plus side, the picture on the back wall of my little box sculpture, shows a packet of dreamies and a tin of Felix. Now where else would you see that? Whistler’s paintings and engravings are truly beautiful. He is holding in his hand one of my jewellery boxes, which contains a lovebirds brooch, made from Victorian Willow pattern pottery mudlarked from the Thames in West London, which I have donated to be auctioned later this year to raise money for the Mayor’s charity Age UK Hounslow, Dementia Services. @ageukhounslow A brilliant cause. The British Museum’s Bayeux Tapestry Exhibition opens next week. For those who have not been fortunate enough to obtain tickets, fear not! Come to @creativemilebrentford this weekend, where alongside many other fabulous artworks, you can see my Bayeux Brooch. It might not be as big or as old as the original, but it is made from a 1966 Bayeux Tapestry Stamp, issued to mark the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It comes complete with swords and crown, essential for any conflict. It also provides a mini historical guide to inflation. Back in 1966 it cost only 4d (2p) to post a letter. So pleased to have been invited by Tom Chivers @thisisyogic to give a presentation on the @londonportauth Creative Permit at the Mudlark Symposium @guildhallartlondon and what it means to us, some of the 50 holders.

I’ll be talking about our artwork and jewellery as well as the connections, creativity, collaborations and friendships that have resulted from this new category of permit.

I’m the last speaker on the Sunday afternoon, so I’ll be ending the Symposium on a creative high 👈🏻◀️ for more info

The Willow Pattern is not only the most famous ceramic pattern of all time but also the ultimate example of Love on a plate. Currently finishing off my jewellery made from pottery mudlarked from the Thames and canals of London. Will be on display this weekend @creativemilebrentford where the theme of this year’s arts festival is Love.

This is one of the best pieces of pottery I have ever mudlarked. It came from the banks of a West London canal , dates to c.1900 and shows 2 cherubs, symbols of love. We turned it into a heart-shaped brooch and hung it with a single pearl, another emblem of love. The cherub is opening his arms wide to welcome you to @creativemilebrentford next weekend 4-6 September, where we are showing @motherruggeruk

RIP Yayoi Kusama (1929 -2026) a remarkable artist who turned her neuro-divergence into a triumph, creating unique and instantly recognisable works of art. This is my own little tribute to her, a wall-hanging sculpture entitled Yayoi Pussama, part of my Cats in Art series celebrating great artists, irresistible puns and of course cats.
