Big spaces call for bold statements. When we design multi-family buildings with 15-20 common spaces, we always begin with one fabulous wallcovering. This paper by @areaenvironments was designed by our dear friend @suyaotian. It set the stage for the entire building. Add in a custom designed light fixture and the lobby starts to shine!

There’s a lot happening quietly in this home.

The steep, wooded site gave us an incredible opportunity to stretch the home along the lake and take full advantage of those west facing views. From the stepped chimney and dormers to the Palladian window glowing at dusk, the Colonial influence is easy to see without the home feeling overly formal.

Building on a site like this takes plenty of coordination, but when the evening light starts hitting the house and the lake beyond it, you can see why every inch mattered. 🌅

The little workhorse of a kitchen was newly renovated for a family of five! The three amazing young girls were worried that they would miss their old kitchen. There was not much to change in terms of the layout, but simply changing finishes and slightly adjusting the layout made a huge difference. And rumor has it that all three girls are very happy with their new kitchen. Slide all the way through to see the before photo.

A traditional bathroom with an abundance of well thought out details- daring enough to use a beautiful natural stone called bluette. Zoom in on the details- the rosettes on the tub panels, the inset beveled mirrors, the shower surround, gorgeous fixtures, and so much more. What appears so simple when scrolling through photos is actually hours and hours of thoughtful teamwork to get every detail just right. And make sure you slide all the way to the end- because with every renovation comes some “found space” that turns into something useful- in this case, a linen closet, extra storage and a place to sit when getting ready.

This makes it all appear so easy! In reality, it was about 16 months start to finish for this incredible renovation. But what is amazing to me is how you can dream up a space on paper and get so brilliantly close. It amazes me every time.

If you are going to do laundry, why not make your laundry room a little treat for yourself?

The average person does 13,000 loads of laundry in a lifetime. Yup- you read that right. It’s worth making your laundry room a pleasant destination 🧺

If I lived here, this would be my Sunday spot. And I wouldn’t move, if I could help it, all day.
