POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Premiered by @nicholasgrimshaw @bbc6music this morning 🩵

A collaboration with amazing Derry based producer @caolanaustin

Inspired by 00s indie electronica and the lonely but dreamy visual worlds created by our favourite filmmakers.

We’ve been online friends for a while and when Caolán sent me the instrumental my ideas for melodies and lyrics all came together quickly. Recorded remotely, Caolán brought everything together so perfectly in the mix.

Surprise! My new single is out today ✨

It’s called ‘Feel The Taste’ & premiered on @bbc6music this morning with the wonderful @nicholasgrimshaw 😘

I wrote this song with the incredible @marthaffion - channelling all the early 00’s indie-electronica vibes on this one.

✨ Meticulously crafted indie pop delivered with wit, honesty and vulnerability ✨

@marthaffion is the much celebrated songwriting project of Irish singer songwriter Claire McKay (Former Champ, Friends of the Guinness) - crafting timeless, heartfelt guitar and piano pop, blending the melodic warmth of classic songwriters with a distinctly modern voice.

Drawing comparisons to artists ranging from Dusty Springfield and Steely Dan to Aldous Harding and Rilo Kiley, while reflecting her own Irish roots and gift for intimate storytelling.

Following a break from shows after her most recent album 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳, Howlin' Fringe sees her first live appearance in Edinburgh for what feels like eons. Please don't miss this opportunity to see a very rare talent at work.

🫠 Immerse yourself in some world record breaking psych-pop 🫠

Our humble leader Pictish Trail returns to his favourite haunt of Leith Cricket Club with a well oiled full band in tow, fresh from touring the celebrated new record 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘚𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘦.

Drawing equally from folk music, krautrock, electronic production and DIY pop, his songs shift effortlessly between the intimate and the expansive, the heartfelt and the absurd. Expect fun, sweat and maybe a little slime.

Joining the line-up is perennial Lost Map fave Martha Ffion - the indie pop project of SAY award nominated Irish singer-songwriter Claire McKay (also known from Former Champ and much missed super-group Friends of the Guinness).

Her acclaimed albums have drawn comparisons to artists ranging from Dusty Springfield and Steely Dan to Aldous Harding and Rilo Kiley.

We just added a little more sonic joy to your August.

Supports now added to our Howlin' Fringe line-up, and it's shaping up to be *quite* the party.

✨ Sulka and Suckle were such a perfectly aligned alt rock line-up, we had to give them THE CHOP! The Glasgow art pop duo comprising of the unnervingly prolific Gemma Fleet & Andrew R Doig, who you may remember from all your favourite bands (Dancer, Nightshift, Order of the Toad, Robert Sotelo, and many many more).

✨ Lost Map mainstay and one of our favourite songwriters, MARTHA FFION peaks out from an extended quiet period with a rare solo set, opening for Pictish Trail.

✨ Complementing Free Love's euphoric dance energy is EYES OF OTHERS (Heavenly Records) - the free wheeling solo project of sonic adventurer John Bryden. Expect a knowing wit and a broad sonic palette that takes in carefree electronics, hypnotic dub, wry folk rock, twitchy psychedelia and buoyant acid techno.

Daft thrills / sonic joy available from:

it’s almost the end of the year…

Was amazing to get to release and perform again in 2025 💘

Loved collaborating with the brilliant @caolanaustin on our track, Feel The Taste (streaming everywhere now) and performing at the @collectionboxglasgow Christmas show with the wickedly talented @andy__macpherson @jilllorean @goodnightlouisa

I even managed to write a new song in the past few weeks. Working title: Tractor 🚜

Plus lots of gigging, recording and releasing with @former.champ

Thanks to all involved and to everyone who has continued to support.

CMF x

Ps. The @jbrekkie album is my fave of the year ✨
