Good Friday reminds us that even in our hardest seasons, something greater can be unfolding.

I love this quote even more today.

“You can never break a woman who finds beauty in everything…”

What looks like the end… isn’t. Sunday is Coming! 🕊️ by @marthatatum

There is something beautiful about living long enough to truly know yourself.

Not because you stop needing people. Not because you have everything figured out. But because, with time, you begin to trust your own voice, honor your instincts, and feel more at home in the woman you have become.

I value the people who love me, support me, challenge me and walk alongside me. But I’ve learned that confidence doesn’t have to come from outside affirmation.

It comes from living.
From learning.
From surviving.
From growing.
From understanding what deserves your energy and what does not.

There is a certain peace that comes with becoming more sure of yourself.

So on this Sunday, I’m simply grateful for every year, every lesson and every experience that has brought me closer to her.

Happy Sunday, friends. Keep growing. Keep becoming. And keep trusting the woman you are becoming. 💕

Art has a beautiful way of telling a story and today, we celebrated a story of courage, vision, leadership and transformation.

I was honored to join The Women’s Home for the ribbon cutting and unveiling of “Faces of Change: Her Story is Houston’s Story,” a stunning mural created by Houston artist Anat Ronen.

This 61-foot-by-20-foot mural honors six remarkable women whose contributions helped shape Houston:

✨ Charlotte Baldwin Allen
✨ Terry Hershey
✨ Ima Hogg
✨ Barbara Jordan
✨ Ninfa Rodriguez Laurenzo — “Mama Ninfa”
✨ Dominique de Menil

Their legacies span civic leadership, civil rights, conservation, the arts, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and the building of the city we know today.

Congratulations to Alden Clark and Doug Parker, who served as co-chairs and spearheaded this meaningful project, along with all of the sponsors, supporters and community partners who helped bring this vision to life.

It was also an honor to present a City of Houston proclamation commemorating today’s unveiling and recognizing this beautiful tribute to the women whose stories are part of Houston’s story.

What I love most about Faces of Change is that it places women visibly within Houston’s history and gives future generations an opportunity to learn their names, know their stories and understand the difference they made.

Congratulations to The Women’s Home and everyone behind this extraordinary addition to our city. May it continue to remind us of the beauty of becoming and the lasting impact women have made and continue to make inHouston. 💜

Paris, one year later. 🇫🇷✨

What an honor to return to Paris representing the City of Houston and the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce for the Women of Impact Gala.

Just one year after launching this international connection, we returned to see those relationships growing and creating real opportunities for women and young people.

That growth reflects the vision of GHWCC Founder & CEO Suzan Deison, strengthened in Paris through leaders like Soumia Malinbaum and Véronique Nouazé, President of IEAFW.

I was honored to introduce France-Lise Valier, Deputy Mayor of Argenteuil for Education and Youth, and proud to celebrate an extraordinary group of women honorees, including Houston’s Nancy Carter Strohmer and Hallie Vanderhider.

A special thank you to our Houston delegation, sponsors and partners who continue helping us build bridges between Houston and Paris through business, education, philanthropy and leadership.

What started as a vision is becoming a global network. Paris, London, Mexico City and more to come.

We’re just getting started. Just WOW! ✨

Every year, this event gets bigger, stronger, and even more meaningful. 💕

I’m excited to once again partner with SurviveHER for our annual Breast Cancer Awareness event, a special evening centered on support, awareness, healing, and renewal.

RestoreHER: Release + Renew is a time for women to come together, breathe, reflect, restore, and be reminded that no one walks this journey alone.

What I love most is seeing this event continue to grow each year, with more community support, more shared stories, and more encouragement for survivors, fighters, and families. That’s what awareness and renewal looks and feels like.

Put on your pink, bring your positive energy, and join us for an evening of movement, sisterhood, and strength.

Invite the survivors, friends and supporters of survivors to join us.

Thank you, Houston! 💜🍼

As we close out September, Infant Hunger Action Month, @lifehouston is celebrating a community that showed up for babies and families in a tremendous way.

With Mayor Pro Tem @marthatatum serving as Honorary Chair of our Inaugural Citywide Formula Drive, it brought Houston together around one mission: helping ensure no baby goes without the nutrition they need!

The response was incredible! More than $45,000 worth of infant formula was donated, and we’re still counting!

We’re grateful for the support of the City of Houston, our media partners, community partners, donors, and everyone who hosted a formula drive or helped spread the word.

September may be over, but LIFE Houston’s mission continues 365 days a year. You can still donate formula, host a formula drive, or make a financial gift.

Get involved by visiting lifehouston.org

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. David Persse.

This photo takes me back to 2020, when our city was navigating so much uncertainty during COVID. In those moments, Dr. Persse was a steady presence for me as we led our community through this time. He brought calm, wisdom, and a deep sense of responsibility to the work, helping guide Houston through one of the most challenging public health crises we have ever faced.

Dr. Persse dedicated his life to protecting the health and safety of Houstonians, and his service made a lasting difference in our city. I will always be grateful for his leadership, his professionalism, and his commitment to keeping our community informed and cared for.

My prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Rest in peace, Dr. Persse!🕊️

My heart is heavy for our Westbury High School family today.

A 17-year-old student should be thinking about graduation, his future and all that life has ahead of him, not becoming another young life lost to gun violence.

I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, classmates, teachers, coaches and everyone who loved him. There are simply no words adequate for a family experiencing this kind of loss.

To our students across District K: you matter! Your life matters. Your future matters. You deserve to go to school, spend time with your friends and grow into everything you are meant to become without fearing that violence will cut your future short.

Today, we grieve with the Westbury community. We surround this family with our prayers and our love, and we recommit ourselves to doing everything within our power to protect our young people and create safer communities.

Every life lost is one too many. 💔

Two women. Two levels of government. One commitment to the people we serve. 💫

I always enjoy working alongside my State Representative, Lauren Ashley Simmons as we advocate for our shared constituents and the communities we both love.

This is what partnership in public service looks like. Collaboration makes the work stronger.

When women gather around a cause, awareness can become action. 💗

I enjoyed joining Lindsay Taylor Munoz of Whitmire & Muñoz, State Representative Lauren Ashley Simmons, Council Member Sallie Comstock Alcorn, Council Member Mary Nan Huffman and other invited guests at the Toast to Women’s Health Reception, where I had the honor of presenting a City of Houston proclamation recognizing September as Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.

Public policy, community advocacy, health care and education all have a role to play in improving outcomes for women. I’m grateful for the physicians, advocates, organizations and community leaders who continue moving this important work forward.

Here’s to healthier women, stronger communities and conversations that lead to action.
